I love to shop at Downtown Disney when I go to the World, and I get a real kick out of the display of giant Lego sculptures. The cast of characters that has changed from time to time, but it seems as though the dragon has been there forever. Oh, and remember the snoring Lego dude on the bench? The one who looked like “Frasier”? Good times, good times… 😀
Now that it’s been announced that a new LEGOLAND theme park will be built in Orlando, I wonder if Disney will be able to retain these sculptures. Only time will tell, I guess! CLICK HERE if you want to see more scenes from trips to Downtown Disney.

Traci was born and raised in Ohio, but has been visiting Walt Disney World since she was 18 months old (in 1974)!! She has always had a special place in her heart for all things Disney, but especially loves Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse, and her favorite princess – Cinderella. Traci spent her childhood visiting the Magic Kingdom for just one day every summer (her grandparents lived in Tampa, Fla.). It wasn’t until 2003 that she finally was able to stay “on property” .. and now visits at least once a year (more if she’s lucky). The family’s favorite resort – Beach Club.
The love of Disney runs deep in Traci’s house – her daughters love all things Disney and are always looking for “hidden Mickeys” (and both been counted as NDKs). And her husband? Well, he’s almost as Disney-obsessed as the girls. One of these days the family hopes to make the move south to be closer to The Mouse (and away from the cold, snowy Ohio winters).
very fun photo! Thanks for sharing!
I can't help it. This picture makes me want to go to Disney.
I just wanted to say, yes, Disney will get to keep them! 🙂 Legoland is part of a different branch of Lego (in fact, it isnt really owned by lego anymore!) and yes, the LIC and the sculptures will remain.
As for the man on the bench, sadly, he wont be back anymore. he's on a permanent vacation, riding buses everywhere…
Oh, and by the way, the dragon's name is Brickley!
Lego Dragon???? That is so cool!! My Son would lose all composure and jump in with him, lol! He is obsessed with Legos!
