**Disclaimer – I received these books for review purposes from the Disney Book Group. All opinions are my own.

Story time is always a favorite in this Neurotic Disney home. NDK (Neurotic Disney Kid) is old enough to read, but not too old to still be read to! Books are wonderful on so many levels. We keep them everywhere – even in the car! Disney Books are a great way to keep Disney at home. Disney Book Group was kind enough to send these books for NDK approval – be sure to look for the NDK Review after the description of each book!

captain america tomorrows armyHappy Friday, NDPs! This week, NDK & I are sharing with you the newest chapter book to hit the shelves on TUESDAY, August 26th. I think this review just might surprise you 🙂

  • Captain America: The Tomorrow Army
  • Page Count: 144 * Price $5.99

In this second installment of Mighty Marvel Chapter Books (#1 was Spider-Man: Attack of the Heroes), Captain America: The Tomorrow Army is a great step for those that have graduated from Easy Readers. From the back of the book-

The battle for tomorrow begins today! Steve Rogers spends his days trying to catch up to modern times, which isn’t easy when you’ve been buried in ice for 70 years. When S.H.I.E.L.D. learns HYDRA agents are on the rise, Nick Fury calls on Steve to suit up as Captain America and put an end to HYDRA’s evil plans. But even with the help of his friends Sam and Natasha, aka Falcon and Black Widow, Cap may not be able to stop HYDRA’s newest initiative: The Tomorrow Army!

Marvel Super Heroes chapter books are the perfect next steps for readers who have grown up on our World of Reading titles. These stories are character-driven tales in which much of the action-packed scenes unfold in colorful, fully-illustrated sequences, while the character and story development is conveyed in the clean, simple exposition that’s perfect for young readers.

When I handed this book to NDK so she could read it, I definitely received a funny look. She is a Princess Girl by nature, but she does love to read. She took the book and began. She had to stop reading to inform me that “Nick Fury is in this book, Mom!”. Of course, I had to ask who that was.  She then proceeded to tell me that he was in the Ultimate Spider-Man book we reviewed a few weeks ago (7-18-2014). I could see that these stories have created a new Marvel fan out of a Princess Girl.

The book is a hefty read at 144 pages, but do not let that intimidate your young reader. The text size is appropriate & does not appear overwhelming. Some text appears in bold, colorful type or has an artistic flair, which adds to the excitement to this story. Big, bold pictures are throughout the book. This book has NDM approval for sure. But there is no need to listen to me anymore. Read what NDK has to say!

The NDK Review: When I first saw this book, I didn’t know if I wanted to read it because I don’t watch scary shows or movies. When I first opened the book, I really liked it. There is a page that tells you about all the characters in the book. Some of the words are different from the “normal” words.  Some of the words are bigger than the others and different colors. There are others that are crooked. Some of the pictures are like comic books, too! The people “talk” in the pictures. I like that part the best. The story was awesome. Captain America saved the day. The story takes place during the 4th of July – and there is a surprise with Lady Liberty, too! I think anyone would enjoy this book. I think anyone that has never read a Super Hero book should read this one. It was awesome!

Stay tuned! NDK & I will be back next week with more Disney story time fun! Let us know if you have read any of these stories- what did you think? Know of a great Disney story that NDK & I should read & review? Please share it with us in the comments below. We love story time!
