Disney On Ice presents Frozen, Presented by Stonyfield Yokids Organic Yogurt, officially kicks off its 2014 tour today, September 4, 2014! Last night, I was given the opportunity to see the final dress rehearsal, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of breathtaking!  Set to the music that you know and love from the movie, the characters come to life in a style and grace that only an ice show can provide.

Here are a few fun facts to know before you go-

  • There are 58 different colors of paint used throughout the performance. There are also 4 types of snowflakes and 4 different kinds of glitter used!
  • Over 100 people from 8 different costume shops worked on the costumes for the performance
  • Thousands of yards of fabric were used to make the 108 costumes worn in the production.
  • Elsa’s Ice Queen Dress is all hand painted silk chiffon by Parsons-Meares, a world class costume shop in NYC. Her dress also has its own unique snowflake pattern.
  • All 32 Trolls have a specific gender and a unique facial treatment.
  • There are 39 performers representing 11 countries.
  • The skating surface is approximately 160 feet long by 70 feet wide.
  •  It takes 11 trucks and 6 buses to transport production, staff, crew & cast.

The show opens with your favorite Disney pals introducing the show. During the introduction number, NDK was so excited she hugged me and said “Mom! I feel like I’m at Disney!” There are a LOT of characters in the opening act. The show then moves quickly into a beautiful retelling of the movie on ice. It is a perfect setting.  The cast does a wonderful job engaging the audience as well. A notable instance was during the coronation scene. While the main focus was on Anna & Hans, Queen Elsa skated the perimeter, waving at the audience. I know NDK waved at every chance she had.  It was also worth noting at the end, the high energy level from the cast and the audience was definitely uplifting. Be sure to expect snow (snoap) and lots of projected snowflakes.

The Orlando shows have been sold out, but Feld Entertainment announced earlier this week that they were releasing more seats in the upper levels starting at $20 for all Orlando shows! So if you have not yet purchased tickets, there is still time! Tickets are available at the Amway Center box office and all Ticketmaster locations, or online at Ticketmaster.com.

Stay tuned – I will have photos to share!
