**Disclaimer – I received these books for review purposes from the Disney Book Group. All opinions are my own.

Story time is always a favorite in this Neurotic Disney home. NDK (Neurotic Disney Kid) is old enough to read, but not too old to still be read to! Books are wonderful on so many levels. We keep them everywhere – even in the car! Disney Books are a great way to keep Disney at home. Disney Book Group was kind enough to send these books for NDK approval – be sure to look for the NDK Review after the description of each book!

ndk review 10-3Happy Friday, NDPs! There are quite a few new books scheduled for release this upcoming TUESDAY, October 7th – a little something for NDKs of all ages :) So let’s get started!

Gravity Falls

From the land of Gravity Falls, we have two new releases to share with you this week! For our older NDKs, these books are right up their alley!

  • Dipper & Mabel's Guide to Mystery Gravity FallsDipper’s and Mabel’s Guide to Mystery and Nonstop Fun!
  • Ages: 8-12 yrs * Price: $12.99 * Page Count: 160

“Dipper’s and Mabel’s Guide to Mystery and Nonstop Fun!” has it all! Dipper and Mabel have created a fun-filled guide for your NDK to be prepared for anything an adventurous life could offer – allies and enemies, the supernatural, monsters and ghosts and time travel! The guide also offers tips and tricks with secret codes, curses, your supernatural experiences and what to do if you are a monster. Activities and many journal style entries will keep your NDK busy for hours!

The NDK Review: I like this book. There is a page where you can dress up Mabel’s pig, Waddles. I like that I can write in this book. The front of the book tells you about all of the characters, what they do, and what they like. There is also a really cool map of Gravity Falls and a poster on the other side. I’m excited to get started with this book!

  • Gravity Falls Once Upon A SwineGravity Falls: Once Upon A Swine
  • Ages: 6-8 yrs * Price: $4.99 * Page Count: 112

Another great chapter book for fans of the show, “Gravity Falls: Once Upon A Swine” finds us at the Mystery Fair. Following the format of “Pining Away,” the story features original artwork from the show. From the back of the book:

At the moment when Mabel wins Waddles the pig at the Mystery Fair, Dipper ruins his chance to impress Wendy. But when Dipper finds a way to travel back in time and changes his fate with Wendy, Mabel’s fate also changes-for the worse. Will Dipper and Mabel tweak time so each of them leaves the fair a winner? Will Mabel ever share a slice of pizza with her beloved Waddles again? Then, when a prehistoric creature snatches up Waddles, it’s up to the Gravity Falls gang to save him!

The NDK Review: I am still reading this book, but I am so worried about what happens to Waddles! I really like the pictures in the book. Chapter books are my favorite, so this is one of my favorite books!

Princess Fun

For the Princess fans in your life, two new books featuring Elsa and Sofia the First are available Tuesday!

  • Frozen Elsa's GiftFrozen: Elsa’s Gift
  • Page Count: 24 * Price: $10.99

This beautiful board book tells the tale of how much Queen Elsa loves her sister, Princess Anna. Included in the price of this book is a mobile app, Disney Frozen Storybook Deluxe App, for your iPad and iPhone! From the back of the book:

Queen Elsa and Princess Anna are hosting a ball for the people of Arendelle. Elsa knows it’s the perfect time to show everyone how much she loves her sister. But can Elsa find the right gift for Anna before she loses sight of what’s really important?

The NDK Review: I like how this story is in the winter time, but Elsa didn’t make it winter. It was the season. This story happens after the movie, so that is awesome that Queen Elsa and Princess Anna have more adventures. The sisters really love each other. It’s just like me and my sisters!

  • Sofia the First Curse of Princess IvyThe Curse of Princess Ivy
  • Page Count: 40 Price: $16.99

This story is a beautifully illustrated, hard-cover book about Sofia’s adventure with Rapunzel. Included in the purchase of this book is a Disney eBook! From the inside sleeve of the book:

When Amber discovers the secret of Sofia’s amulet, she tries to summon Princess Rapunzel, but instead Princess Ivy, a once-exiled princess, shows up, determined to take over Enchancia and turn the whole kingdom black and white. Sofia and Amber must work together to save their family and their kingdom!

The NDK Review: Sofia wouldn’t let Amber try on her amulet. Amber was angry and left, but when Sofia woke up the next morning, her amulet was gone! I don’t want to ruin the surprise, but a new princess shows up, and she is an evil princess! The pictures are so pretty. They look like they were drawn! I also like that the words in this book are printed differently, it’s all so pretty!

Disney Junior Fans

The NDK Review: The inside cover has all of the main characters in the book. I really like when they show all the characters and tell you about them. I have seen this show before, and I really liked the story. It’s really easy to read, so anyone just learning to read can read this all by themselves!

The NDK Review: This book reminds me of the 5 Minute Spooky Stories book! I love this book. Minnie Mouse is my favorite. I really like how all of the Disney characters were in the different stories, but Minnie was in every one of them! This book is great if you love Minnie Mouse like I do!
