**Disclaimer – I received these books for review purposes from the Disney Book Group. All opinions are my own.

Story time is always a favorite in this Neurotic Disney home. NDK (Neurotic Disney Kid) is old enough to read, but not too old to still be read to! Books are wonderful on so many levels. We keep them everywhere – even in the car! Disney Books are a great way to keep Disney at home. Disney Book Group was kind enough to send these books for NDK approval – be sure to look for the NDK Review after the description of each book!

ndk review 2-6-15

New books are always exciting. Today, we are pleased to review three great new favorites that will be on shelves TUESDAY, February 10, 2015.

  • This is Hulk - This is FalconThis is Falcon / This is Hulk (2 separate books)
  • Page Count: 32 * Price: $3.99

These World of Reading Level 1 books are just right for those just learning to read. NDK really enjoyed them because she is not “too” familiar with Marvel characters, and these are just right to help her understand who these characters are!

From the publisher:

The Marvel Heroes of Reading line of early readers is designed to offer reluctant readers, specifically boys, books that they will want to read by featuring characters they love. The series is broken into three levels that invoke the rigorous training courses their favorite Marvel heroes must engage in to perfect their superpowers.

The NDK Review: I think Hulk is very strong. He used to be a young man, but an explosion turned him into Hulk. He only turns to Hulk when he is mad. He likes to say “HULK SMASH!” Falcon is a teenager named Sam and he has a pet falcon named Redwing. They used to fight crimes, but one day he got in trouble and the crooks chased him. Captain America jumped in and saved the day. He thought Sam was good, and let him join S.H.I.E.L.D. It was hard at first for him to learn how to fly, but he practiced and he got better. It’s just like when my mom tells me to keep trying. I liked these books. They aren’t as scary as the movies. They let me learn about how each character started. These are easy to read books. These books will encourage little kids who have trouble reading and will teach them that books can be fun!

Star Wars: a new hope read-along storybook & CD

  • Star Wars: A New Hope Read-Along Storybook and CD
  • Page Count: 32 * Price: $6.99

Remember way back when, when we used to have read-along books? Back in the day, they were records, tucked into a flap on the front cover. Later on, these books evolved onto cassette tapes. Now, they are conveniently on CD, with an easy, clear envelope on the inside front cover. While all of this may have evolved throughout the years, one thing has remained constant; those familiar words, “You will know it is time to turn the page…” It is great to relive these memories and know that NDK can enjoy something that I enjoyed a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…:)

From the publisher:

Experience Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope like never before! Fully illustrated with gorgeous images by Star Wars artist Brian Rood, this epic storybook also includes a CD with word-for-word narration, music, and character voices. Follow along as Luke Skywalker meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, rescues Princess Leia, and faces Darth Vader for the first time.

The NDK Review: I have seen this movie. I like how this CD plays the music from the movie. It also says, “A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away…”. The music starts….there are big explosions and the story begins! There are pictures from the movie, and that is so cool. C-3PO and R2-D2 sound the same! It really followed the movie. There were a lot of details. I can’t wait for my dad and my brother to read this book, too, because they are big Star Wars fans. Any Star Wars fan would love this book. It’s great!
