In its first-ever CONCACAF U-15 Girls’ Championships appearance, Team USA beat Canada, 2-0, to win the tournament at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.
In its championship-winning effort, Team USA also shut out all six of its previous opponents before facing Canada, who were the defending champions from the 2015 tournament. Team USA advanced to face Canada in the finals after defeating Bermuda, 12-0, in the quarterfinals and then beating Costa Rica, 5-0, in the semifinals. In group play, the U.S. girls recorded victories over Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
In all, Team USA scored 49 goals throughout the tournament.
The highly competitive CONCACAF U-15 Girls’ Championships is a tournament is designed to highlight up-and-coming female soccer stars and featured twenty-two nations from across the CONCACAF region, as well as invitee Venezuela from CONMEBOL.
