Last week, I shared the news of the Global Energy Race sponsored by Bimbo Bakeries, USA. Hunger is a global problem—one that overshadows political, cultural and economic boundaries and affects large portions of humanity. As 37 cities around the world prepare to participate in the second annual Global Energy Race this Sunday, September 25, U.S. event host, Bimbo Bakeries USA, has worked to ensure that runners in the four American host cities will be working to “stomp out hunger” as they run. For each kilometer completed by each participant, Bimbo Bakeries USA will donate two slices of bread to a local Feeding America food bank—one loaf of bread per completed 10K. For the first time, Orlando will host the race, which will benefit in part Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
September is #HungerActionMonth, and in partnership with our friends at Bimbo Bakeries USA, we’re asking everyone to help fight hunger in their communities. Central Floridians can join in the effort by participating in the 2016 Global Energy Race at Festival Park on Sept. 25.
