Disney Villains. Everyone has their own personal favorite. My favorite villain is Hades from Hercules. I guess you could say I am partial to his blue-flame. Lately, many events in the theme parks have been dedicated to villains and the intent following that they have. Grabbing a meet and greet opportunity with a villain is just as exclusive. With the popularity of these “bad guys,” comes a new release from Disney Editions, Disney Villains: Delightfully Evil. This new collection shares a rare inside look at the creative origin of Disney’s villain population.
Villains are grouped into categories, such as family or NDK’s favorite, “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way.” Just about every “bad guy” in every Disney/DisneyPixar movie is featured in this book, even “Man” from Bambi has a page! There are two indexes in the back that group the villains alphabetically or in order of their movie release. This is such a great resource to have for every Disney fan!
There are many images of each villain accompanied by a brief text explaining each villain and there inspirations for the characters. Not overwhelming, but informative nonetheless. NDK loved pouring over the pages, learning as much as she could over every villain. She was very excited to learn about villains she was not very familiar with. With that said, I definitely give this book the “Neurotic Disney Family” stamp of approval!
The greatest heroes must face the greatest villains.
For decades, Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Animation Studios animated features have offered up some of the most iconic and malevolent villains. Disney Villains: Delightfully Evil showcases rare concept art and photographs and explores the villains’ creative origins, roles within the stories, and influences on and within pop-culture. The deluxe package collects villains by themes such as vain, family, royalty, instincts, and more.
