It was all red carpets, smiles, glitz and glam for the more than 440 Disney Cast Members and their guests attending the recent Walt Disney Legacy Award celebration.

Legacy AwardsInspired by Walt Disney’s personal example and lasting legacy of excellence as a dreamer, a creator and an inspiration, The Walt Disney Legacy Award is a global acknowledgement of those who put forth their very best efforts for our Guests, their fellow Cast and the Company.

Earlier this year, recipients were surprised by their teams with informal celebrations. But on this special night at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, they were honored by Parks and Resorts executives at an exclusive, elegant event.

For many Cast Members, including Kit Mohr, a seven-year Cast Member and server at Liberty Tree Tavern, it was an evening they’ll never forget. The event was a moment of pure pride and joy for Mohr and his mother, who accompanied him to the celebration. His love for Disney started with hearing stories of his father’s time at Disney. When Kit was in fifth grade, he earned the Disney Dreamers and Doers award. And tonight, the honors came full circle as he celebrated being named a Walt Disney Legacy Award recipient.

“Even in my first job I ever held, my mom taught me that every action matters, whether someone’s watching you or not. It’s about who you are, not just what you do, and I’m so honored that someone else saw that in me and nominated me for this award,” Mohr said. “Seeing my name next to Walt’s face [on my plaque], that’s just something else. I’m so appreciative.”
