Katie Z

Katie grew up on all things Disney. When she met her future husband she knew that converting him into a disney fan was a must! After a few WDW vacations, Disney history lessons, and lots of Disney peer pressure, she finally had her prince charming loving all things Disney as well. After getting engaged in 2008 on a carriage ride through Fort Wilderness, Katie threw out the idea of getting married in the place where they shared their happiest memories. Two years of planning, and a whole bunch of Disney magic later, they had the most amazing Disney wedding on October 2nd, 2010. Now living at home in New England, Katie keeps the Disney romance alive in her home and is constantly planning romantic vacations to the world. She has her own personal blog www.makingmyfairytale.blogspot.com and is thoroughly excited to start writing for the Disney Driven Life.

Newlywed Holiday Spirit

Now that Thanksgiving is over and the Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza season is beginning I’ve noticed something interesting happening in my Disney Driven Marriage. My DH and I have been together now for more than six years, but have only been married for a year and two months. Even though we’ve been living together for a while, the holidays pre-wedding were always a little disjointed. There were holidays that we spent apart from each other, and holidays where we’d only spend part of the day together. We also didn’t seem to have our “own” tradition or way of doing the holidays. I remember the first year we lived together we were in a tiny apartment and had a sad looking Charlie Brown Christmas tree that looked thrown together with crazy tiny ornaments. We always felt out of sync with our traditions. It was almost like we didn’t know how to “do” the holidays as a couple… never mind a neurotic Disney couple!

A Whole Lot of Wedding!

On November 11th 2011 (11/11/11), Disney’s Fairytale Weddings Department had eleven couples married. When I heard this all I could think was… holy moly that’s alot of wedding for one day! I started thinking about all the different things my wedding planner did for me and how much attention to detail went into each and every party of our wedding. It seems unbelieveable that in one day the staff, lead by the Disney wedding planner,  was able to pull of eleven weddings without a hitch!

A Pirate’s Life for Me?

Most Neurotic Disney People know someone they needed to convert to the “disney side” to keep them as a vital part of their every day lives. This person, for me, was my husband. I have almost gotten him completely converted, although I wouldn’t call him neurotic….yet.  So far he loves resort hopping, the intricate detail that goes into the queues, the history behind every attraction, the land, and Food and Wine…. especially food and wine! All that being said there are a few things that I just can’t get him to do… He seems to find a problem with two grown adults with no children waiting in line to see a character or dancing along with the parades…???… Anyway I wanted to write about why I am my husbands biggest fan (and enabler) and how amazing he was on our first Disney cruise.

Confessions of a Disney Bride : Hayley

Hayley and Elfyn are from the UK and had one of the most beautiful and classically Disney weddings I know of. I loved this interview so much! Their story of why they chose to get married in WDW, and having “character” guests is so romantic and fun! Enjoy!

The Many Themes of a Disney Wedding : Exotic

Some engaged couples have a taste for the exotic. Luckily, Disney has more exotic locations for weddings than you think!

How about a ceremony in Morocco, with this amazing backdrop for your wedding?  I have seen wedding ceremonies set up right in front of the arch way. I’ve seen it both heavily decorated and simply decorated, but either way, this location can not be beat. The architecture and the colors make it not only one of my favorite pavilions, but also one of my favorite Disney wedding locations.

The At Home Disney Bride : Michelle

Michelle went to high school with me back in the day, and we have since reconnected when we discovered we both had a love for Disney. She did the Disney College Program a few years ago, of which I am completely and utterly jealous, and since then she has become like most of us here on the DDL who value bringing Disney into their lives. She is having her upcoming wedding at home but is going to have many Disney elements incorporated into her wedding. Here is Michelle’s story…

The Many Themes of a Disney Wedding : Classic

One of the most wonderful things about having a Disney wedding, and trust me there are many, are the numerous themes you can have! You could be getting married in Paris, then have you reception in the “attic” of a turn of the century hotel in Atlantic city, Or you could be married in a seaside gazebo, and have your reception in Morocco during amazing fireworks. All the while your photographer is snapping pictures of you and your significant other in these exotic locations. While trying to write this blog post I got extremely overwhelmed by all the different locations. I’ve decided I’ll break them up as best as I can and include as many locations as I can. This blog post’s theme will be a very traditional, classic theme.

Confessions of a Disney Bride

Amanda is another amazing friend that I met during my Disney wedding planning process. Her wedding was nothing short of fabulous. The ceremony was touching and intimate, the reception location was unique and all of her guests were treated to an unforgettable Disney experience. Amanda loved planning her Disney wedding. Her love for planning led her to becoming a travel expert for Mousketrips.com where she specializes in booking Disney vacation packages for wedding parties and guests of Disney weddings. Here are Amanda’s confessions of a Disney bride.

Wedding Music with a Disney Twist

There are so many decisions a bride and groom must make when planning their wedding. Flowers, Cake flavors, color scheme… But one of the hardest things I had to make a decision on was music.

I think that music can really set the tone for any event. Is this a low-key informal affair? Or is it a very traditional, formal affair? I feel that the mood is very much set by the background music. It took many hours of listening to music, both traditional and non-traditional, and lots of changing my mind before I picked out the music for our wedding. Here is was we ended up choosing and why.

CONFESSIONS OF A DISNEY BRIDE-STACEY

Photo Courtesy of Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Website

Having a WDW wedding is a dream come true for many of us Disney fans! I wanted to get the inside scoop on a Disney wedding and decided to interview a very good friend of mine. Stacey and I met while planning our Disney weddings (which were about a month apart) and we’ve been best friends ever since. She had an amazing Disney Wishes wedding and most of her family flew all the way from England to share in her special day!

COOKING AWAY THE BLUES

When our Disneymoon was over I suffered from the “post wedding blues”.  I had been planning for almost two years.  When our flight home landed it seemed like everything went by in the blink of an eye.  I would constantly look for something to do to bring the Disney magic from our wedding and Disneymoon home with me.  I would look at our pictures, watch our wedding video, but there are only so many times I can do that without looking like a total bride in denial. From conversations I’ve had with other brides this is quite a common thing.  There are lots of ways to pull yourself out of any type of funk, but this is how I got out of mine.

POSH PUMPKIN TRANSPORTATION

Every little girl dreams of being a princess. Whether it be Snow White, Belle, Aurora, or Jasmine. Every little girl also dreams of their wedding day. Whether it be big, small, at home, or at an amazing destination, such as Walt Disney World. There are many ways that Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding’s Department make both of these dreams come true for brides. The one that we are going to focus on is the ultimate mode of princess transportation… Cinderella’s Royal Coach.

THE AT HOME DISNEY BRIDE

As neurotic Disney fans, we all understand how important it is to us to bring the mouse into our lives at home. It makes us happy, brings magic to every day life, and helps with those withdrawals in between trips. But how would a couple incorporate Disney into an at home wedding? I just had to find out! I contacted a fellow Disney fan who I knew was right in the thick of her at home Disney wedding plans. She was kind enough to take time out of her day to let me interview her.
