OCTOBER 31, 1939

A structure right out of 1939, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror stands at the end of Sunset Boulevard. This attraction seems to have the perfect angle and look for those great vacation photos. This structure seems to be one of those got to have photos that you end up taking every time you go to the Hollywood Studios. I really like adding a black and white touch to this attraction to give it that old-time feel. As you approach the Tower of Terror you get the feeling something might not be right. Then you hear the screams of the people falling and you decide to head to the queue line. Even though this ride might give you a slight sinking feeling in you stomach, I always find myself returning for the magical scare that only Disney can give me.

FRENCH LIGHTS

I want to continue with an ongoing theme I’ve had lately with images from around World Showcase. It seems that night or day there is always a wonderful area that catches your attention, and one such place is the fountains just in the French pavilion. Just after the sun goes down, you will find that the way Disney has lit this pavilion gives this area a whole new look at night. The shimmer of the light coming from the fountain and the soft yellow light of Les Chefs de France really helps set the mood for a relaxing evening. This World Showcase country has a lot to offer from its signature dining to the upscale shopping. I personally enjoy finding a quiet corner, having a seat, and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The image you see here is from one of those evenings I spent just taking my time and looking for something special.

SUNSET SHOWCASE

I find looking at a distance you can find some of the most enjoyable views at Walt Disney World. One of my favorite things to do is to walk around Epcot in the evening and catch some of the wonderful sights that were created. In this case, we have a creation by nature and a creation by the Imagineers. The warm glow of the sunset off of the things it touches gives me a peace that was intentional for the World Showcase. This is one of the very reasons why I am so attracted to Epcot around this time of day. It seems like no matter where you look in Epcot, around sundown you will find these peaceful sights. If the warm Florida sun catches it you will most likely get a wonderful result. I encourage you to slow down and take a look at all of the colors nature shows you at this time of day.

ANTIQUE DISNEY TOYS THAT ALWAYS MAKE ME SMILE

I want to feature three of the antique Disney toys in my home that never fail to give me a big smile every time I look at them. These toys may be a bit worn and not in mint condition, but in my mind I can hear the children’s laughter echoing from all the fun that they had playing with them when they owned them in years past.

My sister, Melissa at Christmas 2010, gave the first two Mickey Mouse toys to me because she knows how much that I love Mickey Mouse, so right off the bat they are extra special to me.  The Mickey Mouse Push–Up Puppet (the toy on the right) was manufactured in 1977 by Gabriel Industries Inc. in Hong Kong, and it is quite fun to move Mickey around by pushing the bottom of the figurine in various places.  The wind up Mickey Mouse (the toy on the left) was made by TOMY in 1977 in Taiwan and it actually still winds up and walks.  It is definitely a little wobbly when it walks, but it is still loads of fun!

YAK & YETI FOUNTAIN

Just around the corner from the Yak & Yeti Local Foods Café you will find this great fountain. This picturesque dining area has great things to photograph and is a great area to grab a bite to eat. If you decide not to eat or to take a few photographs then you might just find this a relaxing place to rest your feet. I seem to always find myself interested in this fountain and the wonderful flowers that fall on it from the tree above. Next time you are in the area of the Yak & Yeti Local Foods Café, pick up some of the great egg rolls and have a seat next to this fantastic fountain.

FAIRY GARDEN

The 2011 International Flower & Garden Festival has recently started, and I wanted to take the time to share on images from the Pixie Hollow Fairy Garden. This wonderful garden located near Innovention East is a great place for the kids to play and a great place for amazing floral designs. All throughout the garden you will find these fantastic topiaries from Tinker Bell and Pixie Hollow. With some of the most beautiful flowers and landscaping at this year’s Flower & Garden Festival, you can really take in some of the greatest man-made wonders of nature. Well, I guess you can say nature made it, but man designed it.

WARNING SIGNS THAT YOUR FIANCE IS A NEUROTIC DISNEY PERSON

Before the “I do’s” are said, there are clues to this neurosis just begging to be recognized.  It is best to face them now, afterward it may be too late….

  • She has a collection of Disney movies that would ignite jealousy in an 8-year-old.
  • You hear him humming “The Clean Up Song” from Enchanted while washing the dishes.
  • She knows how to make the Mickey sign on the computer. ºOº
  • Everywhere you go, he finds at least one hidden Mickey.
