Go for it! As someone who is definitely no runner, just the thought of a runDisney race is extra incentive for me on my training runs. Just don’t bite off too much at one time like I did! I highly recommend starting with a 5K (just sayin’)

I’m planning on doing this for my little girl in September. How much advance did you have to call the florists? Did they give you a time that they would have it all ready? Is it possible for them to do it before you even get to the resort?

Thanks for posting this I wanted to see what it really looked like and it looks totally worth the money!

Sherry Can’t wait to meet you at Diva Weekend! I feel like a little kid going to WDW for the very first time! The gift card tip works! For the last year or so, every week when I go to the store I throw in a $25 gift card and it adds up fast. I try to add a $50 to the basket at least once a month. It was so much fun handing the POR desk clerk my piles and piles of gift cards when I checked in last month, and I still had cards left, which of course I am saving for our Diva Weekend!

Rob, thanks for your comment. That’s really interesting. Do you remember those kiosks they used to have on property that would allow you to create custom CDs with the audio tracks from various attractions and other ambient music? (I miss those things!) I wonder if that’s where they got the music they were selling?

I could only thing of one example. I think Disney shut down a disney music site called Extinct Attractions Club. They sold park music online.

Now, I could be wrong, it was years ago (I have an aweful memory so I could very well be wrong) but I seem to recall that the “Disney Dollarless” site was asked to change their name. They are now “The Mouse For Less”.

Thank you all for your comments. If I desired to accomplish one thing with this article, it was to inspire open, civil dialogue. I’m pleased that has occurred.

I would like to stress one point Cheryl which is of critical importance, though is not an attempt to shoot holes in your opinion. You repeatedly allude to the life of the slaves during the period. This film does not portray slaves as the film is set, as I say in my article, during reconstruction.
While that does not change many of the stereotypes represented in the film, it should be noted that the attitudes and behaviors represented are under different circumstances than you outline.

I will agree much of what we see in this picture is exploitative for entertainment sake, but I stand by my assessment that to subvert the film itself from the public is creating revisionist history.

I find it interesting that there is so much debate and controversy around this movie, and yet Disney does not restrict the release of Peter Pan which contains
stereotypes of Native Americans that are, in my opinion, as bad if not worse than those of African Americans in SOS.
