Disney’s 2012 Movie Slate

It’s that time again! With a year behind us in 2011, it’s time to look forward to see what Disney has planned for 2012. If you listen to the Disney Film Project Podcast, you know which one I’m looking forward to the most, but here’s the slate of films Disney will treat us to in 2012.

January 13 – Beauty and the Beast in 3D – Not much to say about this, except that it is probably the best hand drawn animated film ever, and it did get nominated for Best Picture. The addition of 3D did wonders for the box office of The Lion King, and I’d expect the same here. This will be a must see for me, if only to see it on the big screen again.

D23 Expo Overview

This year’s D23 Expo came to a close Sunday night rather quietly, much like the entire, relatively uneventful weekend.

Friday opened with the Disney Legends Ceremony and big cheers from the Disney fans. A big highlight was the voice of the princesses singing songs from their movies.

Friday afternoon was much less well received as there was no large announcements at the Parks and Resorts presentation as many expected. Among the discussed topics were the Fantasyland Expansion, Aulani, Carsland, Tangled coming to Disneyland’s Fantasyland and the Snow White Mine Train coaster being built in Fantasyland. Fans were furious because they expected big news just as was announced two years ago, but due to the economy and number of projects Disney already has under way, this lack of announcements comes as no surprise for some.

CAPTAIN AMERICA

I love to go to the movies, almost as much as going to Disney theme parks. It’s my way to escape reality for a little while. A good movie takes you out of reality and into a separate world. Too often this summer, though, the films have been subpar. There’s too little character development or not enough done to create the world of the film. And then, there’s a film like Captain America.

DISNEY FILMS IN 2011
