National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October was National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is very close to my heart and I wore at least one pink item for almost every day in October. I also decided not to wear my watch. While it is hot pink and a staple of my wardrobe, I wanted to omit it because you never know how much time you have left. This doesn’t just apply to cancer; few people wake up in the morning knowing that they won’t come home that day.

APRIL DDL RIDDLE WINNER

Congratulations to Sarah S., NDW #67, the winner of April’s DDL Riddle. Sarah knew that a live-action Bambi appeared in Disney’s True-Life Fantasy, Perri. Perri is the story of a woodland squirrel and her adventures. Like Bambi, it was based on a story by Felix Salten. Sarah won a package of Disney character bandz and an inner mouse window cling. Thanks to JL Knopp for supplying the inner mouse window cling.

Hope you enjoyed the riddle!

BAMBI

Copyright: Disney

I’ve never been a fan of Bambi.  There I said it.  Despite the artistry involved, the wonderful character designs, and all the effort that went into the film, I don’t think it turned out particularly well.  It’s a beauty to look at, but not all that fun to watch.  With the release of the new Blu-Ray, I decided to take another look at it.

APRIL DDL RIDDLE

“Drip, drip, drop little April shower. . .” Two of my favorite holidays occur in April—Earth Day and Easter. Walt Disney was a great nature-lover and strong advocate for conservation. His dedication shows in his Academy Award-winning True Life Adventures series. If you haven’t seen these classics, I urge you to do so. Disney has returned to finding drama in nature recently with its Disneynature series. Earth and Oceans are two of our family’s favorite Disney movies and we’re eager to see African Cats when it opens this Earth Day, April 22.

D23 MEMBER SCREENING OF BAMBI

On March 1st, 2011 the Diamond Edition of Bambi is being released on DVD & Blu-ray to stores everywhere. I was excited to have the opportunity to attend a D23 screening of the film in Chicago to celebrate the release. The screening was followed by a question and answer session with the charming voice actor for young Bambi, Donnie Dunagan, and talented Disney animator, Andreas Deja.

MANIPULATIONS AND CALCULATIONS

time-for-math-2

The last few days have been spent gathering my thoughts. I have acquired three WDW vacation packages that meet our needs, but it is yet to be decided whether they meet our budget. Joel will be the one to deliver the verdict on that. Since his lack-lustre mentality in regard to Disney does not incline him to favor “border-line” budget breakers, I am a bit fretful.
