Mickey’s Grand Welcome

2010 was a great year for this Neurotic Disney Family. We made it down to Florida twice – once in April to visit my father and take a day trip to the Magic Kingdom, and once in August to take our annual Walt Disney World Vacation. Jake was almost 4, Ben was 18 months, and Maggie, well she was still in my belly! This trip will forever remain in my heart as one of the best we’ve ever taken. It was full of so many fabulous memories!

FIND YOUR LAUGHING PLACE

Johnny: I wish I had a Laughing Place.
Ginny: Me, too.
Uncle Remus: What makes you think you ain’t? Course you got a
Laughing Place.
Johnny: Really, Uncle Remus?
Ginny: Really?
Uncle Remus: Everybodys got one. The trouble is, most folks won’t
take time to go look for it.
Johnny, Ginny: Where’s mine?
Uncle Remus: Well, now, that I can’t exactly say. Cause where tis
for one mightn’t be where tis for another.
Johnny: Come on, Ginny. Let’s start looking

HOW TO KEEP YOUR HOTEL ROOM AS ORGANIZED AS THE REST OF YOUR VACATION PART 1

One of the most important things to remember while planning a Walt Disney World vacation with little ones, is that you must stay organized! If organization is not a priority to you then it is very easy for chaos to ensue and for everything to fall to pieces. If you are a NDM then being organized should come as second nature to you. You plan out your trip down to when you will use the bathroom. You create detailed packing lists and find great joy in checking off each item as it gets stowed away in your Walt Disney World luggage. Then you arrive at your resort, and unpack everything while your NDH takes the NDKs down to the pool. You put everything in it’s exact spot. Then your Neurotic Disney Family bursts back into the room and in 3 seconds flat everything is laying all over the floor. But have no fear! This does not need to happen! Here is the first half of your Disney Dozen for keeping your hotel room as organized, neat, and tidy as the rest of your trip!

MY NEUROTIC DISNEY KID

Not only am I am Neurotic Disney Mom, but I have a Neurotic Disney Kid. My son Jake is 4 years old. He will be 5 on August 29th. On August 5th he will be embarking on his 3rd trip to Walt Disney World. Last year we created a chain link count down complete with a plethora of Disney characters on the chains to count down our trip to WDW. Every day he would wake up, and promptly come jump on me, asking me to help him take down another piece of our chain. And then every hour on the hour he would ask “How many days again Mommy?”. This year we decided not to do a count down. What I really wanted to do was surprise him with our trip this year but since he has been going to WDW for the past 2 years every summer, he just kind of assumed we were going. Since he’s only 4 and doesn’t really have a concept of dates, I figure that I can still surprise him the morning of our trip.

TO BIN OR NOT TO BIN–ORGANIZING A MOVE

I think the most overwhelming thing so far during all of our relocation preparation has been deciding what is most necessary to take with us. I get caught up with the memories, instead of the use of the item, and for such a large move like this, it has to be more about use than anything. Because we aren’t moving any furniture, the majority of storage will be in clear and colored bins. Here is how we have organized our items, and hopefully this helps those of you looking to do the same.

MICKEY’S MAIN SQUEEZE

This bronze statue of Mickey’s main squeeze can be found in the heart of the Magic Kingdom, along with a few of Walt’s other characters. I found that these statues can be hard to take pictures of because this area can be quite busy at times, not to mention the lighting is more direct because of the lack of shade. However, with the right time of day and the right equipment you can really have fun with these small little statues. With the colorful plants behind them and the right angle you would never think that there was a large crowd around. I think that these guys can be fun to take pictures of because they look good in color and in black and white. You typically can take your time with each one of these statues because most people have their attention focused on getting a picture in front of the castle.  Please stay tuned, because in the future, I hope to feature a few more of these guys.  For now enjoy this one; it’s one of my favorites.
