NFFC’s World Chapter “Mini-Mouseketeer Reunion” Christmas Party

It’s hard to believe that another Christmas Season is upon us. It seems like just yesterday I was putting up decorations, and getting back from last years’ World Chapter Christmas Party, with the theme, “Disney goes to the Movies.” Our theme for this year’s party is even more magical and amazing. This year’s theme is centered around one of the most iconic variety shows on American television…”The Mickey Mouse Club.” This year’s party is the “Mini-Mouseketeer Reunion” theme. For Disney fans worldwide, it is incredible that 57 years have passed since this family staple production began in 1955. But our party this year was made more remarkable, not for the fact we celebrated Walt’s masterpiece, but the fact that attending the affair were four of the original Mouseketeers that starred in that memorable show!

The Mickey Mouse Club

There is perhaps no part of Walt Disney’s legacy more ingrained into the American psyche, sans Mickey himself, than the Mickey Mouse Club. This ground-breaking children’s variety show was conceived by Walt and produced by Walt Disney Productions. The original series ran for four years on the ABC television network from 1955 until 1959. Millions of baby boomers (and their parents) were glued to their sets, with Mickey Mouse Ears on while the Mouseketeers (and in some cases, “Meeseketeers and one big “Mooseketeer”) entertained them with music, cartoons, comedy, newsreels and talent skits. And leading the Mouseketeers were the hosts, Head Mouseketeer Jimmy Dodd and his helper, big Mooseketeer Roy Williams.

THE OTHER DISNEY PIN COLLECTIBLE

In addition to the Disney pins we’re all aware of, there’s another Disney pin collection that includes vintage and newer free versions. I’m talking about the Disney pins or badges from the days of the Mickey Mouse Club to the First Visit pins you can get for free today. Those Celebration Buttons come with wishes like Happy Birthday, Just Married, Happy Anniversary, Just Engaged, I’m Celebrating, My Magical Triumph, etc.

The Celebration Buttons can be found at guest services in every park at the Magic Kingdom and at the EPCOT bus station service center. When you wear them, be prepared for CM’s to wish you a Happy Birthday or Anniversary! Your pin can create some great conversations with other guests as well.

INNER MOUSE 25 – LIVIN’ LA VIDA BUCKET

The Disney Driven Life brings you another episode of inner mouse. In this week’s show, Scott, John, and JL discuss “bucket lists.”  The topic progresses from items on Team inner mouse’s “doable” bucket list to items on the bucket list which are too intimidating to be done and ends with items that were once on the bucket list but are no longer possibilities. Do you have a bucket list?  Watch and see if your list finds any common ground with the hosts of the show.

HEY MICKEY YOU’RE SO FINE!

Close your eyes and remember when you were a little kid. Was there a special outfit you always grabbed? Mine was a purple Ariel t-shirt, a flowy blue skirt, and my favorite pair of shoes: little red cowgirl boots. My mom always giggled at the sight of me in my mismatched outfit. I proudly wore those clothes until I couldn’t fit into them any longer. This was the humble beginning of my relationship with Disney fashion.
