My Newest Journey

I have a confession: I begun a new journey in my life. It’s not ending world hunger or saving the polar bears. It’s not even figuring out how to stop autocorrect from being so annoying! No, this journey is much smaller, but it’s still important to me. It has one thousand steps. All of them are tiny, but I have spent about five hours working on my journey and have probably gone a little more than one hundred steps.

A Very Neurotic Disney Teen Christmas: The Tree

I love Christmas. I don’t know if it’s possible to express to you my deep love for this holiday. It has always been a special and important holiday to me, and not because of the presents. I love the feeling in the air. I have many treasured memories of Christmas, and many of them include Disney. In this post, I really wanted to talk about one of the most vital parts of Christmas for me: the Christmas tree.

Hang with Mickey When You’re Sicky

We all have busy lives. There’s always something going on and we constantly have to adjust ourselves to the speed of life. Teens in particular are always occupied. There’s high school, extracurricular activities, friends, family, chores, and maybe a part-time job or two. With all this moving, we’re bound to get sick, emotionally or physically. We may have caught the flu, or we may be close to a nervous breakdown. Either way we’ve got two options: try to keep going and end up hurting others, and ourselves, or we can stop and take the break we need. Often we just can’t wait to be king so we set high standards for ourselves. Sometimes if we take a break we might call this failure. It’s not failure; this brief break is setting us up for success. It’s allowing us to go the distance. Disney is one of the best medicines. It helps me take my mind off of whatever ails me. Here are some things you should try on your next sick or mental health day to bring you some magic.

A LIFE LESSON FOR TEENS FROM TOW MATER

Like many other people, I seem to find that all the life lessons I need to know are given somewhere within Disney. The most recent one I learned applies to everyone. Although, I think it’s especially important for teens because we have the most choices to make out of everyone on the planet. I learned this lesson in Cars 2 from everyone’s favorite tow truck, Mater!

TOP TEEN ATTRACTIONS AT DISNEYLAND

Attractions are the first things that come up when I talk Disney with other teens. My peers who haven’t been to a Disney theme park think that the parks were created for small children and that there aren’t any “teen attractions”.  They believe that the parks only offer dark rides such as Snow White’s Scary Adventures and Pinocchio’s Daring Journey. I wrote this post for them, and teens going to Disney soon who are worried they’re going to be bored. In my next few posts I’m going to share my list of top attractions for teens for each park in the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. I decided to start at the place where it all began: Disneyland.

DISNEY WITH A TEEN AND TWEEN

With the summer rapidly approaching and my next Walt Disney World vacation getting closer and closer it has become a hot topic of conversation around my household. One of our discussions revolved around our two children, in particular our 17 year old son. My son told me and my wife he doesn’t want to spend the entire vacation with us and his sister. He wants to wander the World on his own.

What! A teenager who doesn’t want to spend his entire vacation with his family? Shocking isn’t it? I’m actually surprised it took him as long as it did to say something to us. My wife and I talked about letting our son go off on his own at Disney World long before he ever brought the subject up to us. My wife is okay with letting our son venture to a different park than the one we plan to visit but, as an admittedly over protective father I’m not so sure I like that idea. I don’t want to be on vacation worrying about where he is, what he’s doing, and if he’s okay. However, my wife made a few good points the first being that Walt Disney World is a very safe place, secondly he’s already driving a car without adult supervision, and finally we can keep in touch with our cell phones.
