June DDL Riddle

The Emporium, World of Disney and Mouse Gear. Mickey tee shirts, Tinker Bell jewelry and Disney trading pins. The list could go on and on when it comes to Disney products. Of course, I LOVE to shop for anything Disney anywhere I can find it. From Wal-Mart to The Disney store or our resort’s gift shop, I like to take my time and take in all the wonderful items Disney offers.

Here are some unusual items I am looking for that can’t be found at any of the stores I have mentioned:

A pen used by Shelley, a new Boticelli and the snipper that clipped old King Edward’s cigars. The fancies and fineries of ages are showed and a lady will always feel dressed a la mode in frillies she finds here.

MY DISNEY PET DISAPPOINTMENT

I just got back from Walt Disney World about 2 weeks ago. This trip was a little bit different from my usual ventures, as I went down looking for specific things: blog ideas, photo opportunities, and merchandise to write about. During my journey, I spent two separate nights shopping and dining at Downtown Disney. The first night was a quick jaunt through the shops, just to get an idea of some items to purchase before my departure. I didn’t want to spend a ton of time in World of Disney this first night, as I was extremely tired from my trip and had a very busy day planned starting the next morning.

DISNEY PLUSH FOR ALL

When I see Disney plush, all soft and cuddly, in an unusual color, or a rare character, I have to have it. I stare at them all in a row or in a tower at one of the Disney Stores or at the World of Disney and I picture it in my own home. It’ll be picked up and hugged often, whispered to and snuggled.

Well not all of them. There’s some plush that deserve to be displayed like fine art. Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and Disney/Pixar’s Cars plush are for looking, not touching. I feel more of the movie characters fit in this collectible category, except the adorable animals and princesses of course! Maybe that’s a female thing.

I began collecting Disney plush as a child. Yes, way back then there were Disney stuffed animals! The easiest to find in the late 1960s were the Fab Five and my parents would get a few of them each year. I loved Pluto and Mickey, but was thrilled to own any of them. They’d be proudly displayed at the bottom of my bed and each night, and one was chosen to snuggle with. What a tough decision. No one’s feelings should be hurt, so sometimes I’d choose a few. No one knew except me and my mother.
