Since the death of Michael Jackson on June 25, there have been rumors going around the Internet saying that the Disney attraction that he starred in, Captain EO, was going to be returning. Many people took up these cheers, saying that replaying it would be an excellent tribute to the music legend. Who knew that Disney would actually listen?
This coming February, Captain EO is returning to Disneyland’s Magic Eye Theater. It is only supposed to be a limited engagement, but no one seems to know how limited it will be. The Honey, I Shrunk the Audience attraction will be closing in the next few weeks to make way for the return of Captain EO.
For those who do not know, Captain EO was a 3D video that Jackson starred in that opened in Disneyland in 1986. It was also seen in Walt Disney World’s Epcot, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris. Captain EO took place in the future and had Jackson and his motley crew of aliens fighting an Evil Witch Queen, using music to change her from bad to good. It is about 17 minutes long and was produced by George Lucas.
It will be very interesting to see the feedback that is given from all of the first time viewers of this attraction and if it will hold up to the standards that everyone expects from Disney.
