In the last few weeks, there have been many discussions in the Disney community about the 200 foot advertisement called the Tronorail.  The Monorail that travels through Epcot has been wrapped with a blue covering that holds an advertisement for the upcoming movie Tron Legacy.

This has caused much controversy with Disney fans.  On one side of the argument, people like the sleek look that this advertisement has given to the Monorail. Others dislike that this is a huge advertisement covering the unique design of the monorail.

My question: What do you think? Which side of the argument do you fall on?

Honestly I am on the fence with it. I can see that it is a unique design and for an advertisement on a monorail, it was done in a classy way, without a Web site or release date on the Monorail. But, at the same time, I really do not like that they are advertising on such a classic mode of transportation. I just can’t decide.

What about you? What do you think?

  1. I'm good with it as long as it is temporary and doesn't have any specific written advertising on it. If it is just a sleek looking monorail that implies Tron Legacy for a time, I find it a very creative and tasteful way to market.

  2. I have to say I think it's great (at least from pix–hoping to see it in person in a few weeks). Tron's futuristic tone meshes perfectly with the futuristic feel of the monorail IMHO.

  3. I don't care for the Tron graphics but I kinda like the solid color on the monorail like they have in Disneyland.

  4. I'm not sure how different this is from having a huge Mickey hand and wand celebrating the millenium on the side and top of Spaceship Earth.

  5. I don't get what the big deal is. It looks great! So, they're advertising a new film, so what? Without Disney films, we wouldn't have the parks.
