Several pieces of news have come out of Disney in the last week that I could not just choose one to write about, so here are the summaries of a few big stories in the Disney community.

Name Change for the TTA: Last week, a small but sudden change was made in Tomorrowland, the name change of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority to Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.  Why the heck did they do this you ask? According to Disney, the change is showing the connection from the past to the present and keeping the history of the Disney attraction alive.  Personally, I think they changed it because so many fans still called it the PeopleMover and it was confusing newcomers to Disney, but who knows.

Ticket Price Increase: Many of us expected prices for Disney tickets to go up as usual on August 1st and were pleasantly surprised to find that they did not.  That pleasantness was dashed when a few days later, on August 5th, the price increase did happen. Disneyland and Walt Disney World both received a ticket price increase.  In WDW, One day base tickets will be $82 for adults and $74 for children while in Disneyland, adults will now pay $76 for a one day ticket and $68 for a child.  There were also increases in Water Park and park hopper options.  For the full details, visit Disney’s Official Site.

Curious Survey Rumors: It has been reported by several Disney forums that a random survey is being sent out to many Disney fans via email. This survey suggests that Disney is looking into adding different themed rooms to moderate resorts, similar to the pirate themed rooms at Caribbean Beach Resort.  The new themes that are being questioned are a “Royal Room” option, related in some way to the Disney Princesses, and a “Haunted Mansion” themed room.  Concept Art is included in the survey for both rooms.  The “Royal Room” is very elegant and looks like a room you would see in a castle, including canopy beds and pictures and memorabilia from your favorite Disney Princess movies.  The “Haunted Mansion” room is a bit spookier but still child friendly, with Doom Buggy beds, ghostly footprints appearing on the ceiling, and a sliding bookcase that reveals the bathroom. There have been no known comments by Disney on the survey or if these room themes are going to be a reality any time soon.

  1. We actually filled out that survey last week – we got it based on our April stay at Pop Century. It was SO FUN to see the room concepts. I loved the Haunted Mansion room and the Princess room. It would be so exciting if those rooms became a reality !
