Hello DDL lovers. I’m here to personally invite you to join in on my first virtual race! A virtual running race is one where participants run at home in their own neighborhood, gym, running trail, etc. Then they share their experience with their friends virtually. I’ve wanted to host one for a while, and when I heard Tim Weston was fundraising for Team In Training, I thought that would be an excellent beneficiary. All the money goes to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The cost of the race is $5 to enter and then $1 per mile. [For example if you want run 5 miles the race would cost $10 total. If you want to do a 5k the race is $8, etc] You choose how many miles you want to run or walk. Choose a date to complete your race between November 23rd-27th.

To enter the race go to Tim’s TNT fundraising website at  On the right, click donate now. Donate the amount of money necessary for the number of miles you are doing. IMPORTANT: While donating, click on the bottom of the page where it says ‘add comment’ and in the message box include your name, how many miles you are running or walking, and your twitter handle if you have one. This will help Tim to form a roster of all the runners.

Now to the fun part. Every race has to have some sort of prize! We want to see an entertaining picture of you either in your running gear, running the race, before or after the race, themed in some sort of Thanksgiving or Team In Training fashion, or whatever you think will win you MOST CREATIVE picture. (Humor is always entertaining.) The pics will be judged, and we will pick a winner who will receive a $25 DISNEY GIFT CARD! Don’t spend it all in one place.

Upload your picture to our Photobucket site. Go to, sign in with the username RunningToRaise and the password “runner”.  Upload your picture and write a caption if you want. Only one photo per entrant please. This is an optional part of the race but only people who do this will be eligible to win the gift card. The winner will be picked on Sunday, November 28th.

Overall, this is to raise money for Tim’s fundraising efforts and for you to have fun. When I first posted this, my goal was for us to raise $300 for Tim.  Since yesterday we have had a nice number of participants sign up and have raised $119!! We are already almost halfway to our goal! If you’re a runner, you can easily consider one of your regular runs this race. Even if you’re not a runner, go out, walk a mile, and donate. If you don’t care to run or walk, you can always just make a donation if you wish.  I’m sure the pictures will be great and fun will be had by all.  Invite your friends!
