Elantrice was born and raised in Middle Georgia. Even thought Disney World was about six hours away, trips were made to the place where Elantrice fell in love with a Mouse. Disney was a place of excitement and fun during her teenager years. Adulthood, job, and “auntie” to two handsome godsons later, Elantrice’s love for Disney continues to grow and have a presence in her daily routine. She shares her love of Disney with others by giving tips to newbies, assisting one godson in collecting Disney pins and Vinylmation, and now being the shopping blogger for The Disney Driven Life. Elantrice’s goal is to spread her knowledge of this wonderful brand to others that has played a key part in her life.

When one thinks of Walt Disney World they may think about Mickey Mouse, riding Dumbo, or playing with the Princesses.  For me, I think about the pins, T-shirts, Vinylmations, and Disney “silly bands” that I want to purchase.  Yes, shopping is a Disney attraction that I am always up for riding.  Think about it – you are in awe of the theme of the stores, the “it” item that has been given that special Disney touch, you are placed in a queue to check out, and your hands go up in the air and squeal with excitement when you get a gift with purchase!

My mind races with excitement about the newest items I read about on blogs and Twitter. I usually start my Disney adventures with a trip to Downtown Disney with a list of “must-do’s”.  For example, I must go to D-Street to purchase the latest Vinylmation or go to Trend-D to look at the latest Disney Dooney & Bourke bags.

There are those who do not understand the time that is taken in finding the right item to symbolize the trip or special occasion celebrated on my Disney trips. My sister and I took our first sister trip to Walt Disney World last year. We loved encouraging the other to purchase all the items that caught our eye with our motto of “It’s Disney”.  My sister’s inner chef spied Disney themed cooking items, such as kitchen utensils, aprons, and plates.  I would be drawn to bright colored journals, tote bags, and scarves.  We had a wonderful time shopping together and sharing laughs about the adventures we had on getting a good deal or finding the most wanted items.  That sister trip is symbolized by our matching 2010 Wine & Dine ½ Marathon Relay shirts.

My Disney purchases are ways I incorporate that magic into my everyday routine when away from the World.  I enjoy using my Mickey Mouse sticky-notes, Princess Tiana Kooky Pen, and Mickey Mouse binder.  I take the time to smile at the Sorcerer Hat key chain I purchased because it reminds me of my favorite version of Mickey Mouse.  The first sip of morning coffee is taken out of my Mickey Mouse mug.   These items, plus others big and small, remind me of Disney and how I feel when I am there.

So, along with the rides, shows, wonderful restaurants, and meeting a character, Disney shopping is an attraction that is at the top of my must do list.

  1. I couldn’t agree more! As I go over to WDW from the UK, I fill an entire suitcase with great buys from the Parks, I love the shopping as much as the rides 🙂

  2. Thanks for reading! I am always going in a store to see what is new. Now I have never filled an entire suitcase w/purchases. Hmmmmm. Maybe I should try doing that. LOL

  3. I’m so happy for you, Elantrice! What an awesome dream job! Love your blog….I agree!

  4. Elantrice, I cannot wait till we are both at WDW and we can shop together! I know when planning our trips, shopping is planned it like it is a park day. I also start making a list of items that I must find and buy when I am there. Of course my annual xmas shopping deocrations are purchased at the DTD store. Then of course the World of Disney Store, I spend hours in there trying to find the right gift items for friends that appreciate my love of Disney. Then getting my snow globe, a Tshirt with that yr on it and then any cute nick knacks for my desk. Then of course a trip to the Art of Disney store and looking at the art items, then last but not least the Collector Pins has my whole family wanting to shop.
