Shalon was born and raised in West Virginia. Because she was so far away from the magic she only was able to visit the Magic Kingdom once as a child. Her love of Disney grew through movies and the Disney Channel. After college she relocated to Melbourne Florida almost by accident for her career. Knowing that she was only 1.5 hours away from Disney was exciting and within a few months she became a pass holder. After several years of visiting once a month she relocated to Orlando to be closer to the magic. Being so close to the magic has allowed Shalon to meet so many wonderful Disney enthusiasts like herself during her weekly trips to the World. Because of her love and knowledge of Disney Shalon receives phone calls and emails frequently from friends and family seeking advice on planning upcoming trips to Walt Disney World. She hopes to continue to share the magic and wonderment of Disney with people for years to come.

Spring is in the air, and it’s time to celebrate with some Disney flare.  Starting May 4th, Epcot will be hosting the 2011 Flower and Garden Festival.  This festival is one of the most beautiful times of the year to visit Epcot.  In addition to the many flowers, topiaries, and gardening demonstrations there will be some great nightly entertainment.  The Flower Power concert series returns this year and includes three new musical acts that feature music from the 60s and 70s.  The concerts are included in your admission to Epcot and are held in the American Gardens theatre three times a night at 5:15, 6:30 and 7:45.  Each musical act will also be preforming for three consecutive days, so, if you have a favorite, make sure to see their show more than once since they may be doing a different set.

Many favorites are returning this year such as Chubby Checker, Davy Jones, and Herman’s Hermits.  These concerts can be very popular especially on the weekends so make sure you have a plan in place if you want a good seat.  Generally, people will start lining up approximately one hour before the show to get a seat.  Cast members will be located near the theatre to direct you to where you can wait.  Cast members will let those who have been lined up into the theatre about 30 minutes before show time.  Once everyone from the line has entered, the area will be opened up for any other walk ups until all seats are taken.  If waiting in line is not for you, don’t worry. Often you can get a good standing room viewing spot at the back of the theatre.  The music can be heard great from here, and it’s a good spot if you feel the urge to dance along!  Also make sure to come prepared to sing along as many of the acts enjoy engaging the audience to liven up the show especially later in the evenings.

This year’s lineup includes:

·         March 4 to 6Jose Feliciano
·         March 11 to 13The Guess Who
·         March 18 to 20Chubby Checker and the Wildcats
