Few words make me feel as good as these: Welcome Home. Many of you have heard those words in very different capacities–as have I, but my all-time favorite is when I go “home” to Walt Disney World. Nothing beats checking in to my Disney Vacation Club villa and being welcomed back. It makes me feel as if I am where I am supposed to be.
Six years ago, I had never even heard of Disney Vacation Club. My husband and I had taken our then 3-year-old daughter to Walt Disney World on our first-ever family vacation there. We had both been several times growing up, but this was our first with her and our first staying on-site. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge, and I immediately felt as if we would be back to that hotel many, many times. Little did I know when I checked in to the resort on our first day that we would, in fact, be back… as Disney Vacation Club owners.
We had seen all of the DVC kiosks throughout the parks and the hotel. By the time we decided to stop at the hotel and inquire about it, it was too late to go on the tour. We had been concerned about the timeshare aspect- the hard sale and the fine print that we had heard as nightmares about other timeshares. As we were talking about it our last night in the pool, a couple overheard us. They were from Atlanta, and they had been members for several years. They told us about how great being a DVC member is and about how there is, in fact, no hard pressure sales. We were intrigued. We knew we wanted to bring our family back for years to come, and this seemed to be the perfect fit.
When we returned home, I called Disney Vacation Club and requested information about the process. After a few weeks of reviewing all of the information and the financing options, we chose to buy into Disney Vacation Club. We are now proud owners at Saratoga Springs and never once have we regretted the purchase.
Disney Vacation Club has allowed my family to have a home to go to when we get to Walt Disney World. Many good times have been had in those vacation villas, and I know there are more to come over the next several years. The best thing about Disney Vacation Club is the memories that I already have and those that I know will come down the road. I imagine bringing my grandchildren several years from now (and I do mean, SEVERAL years from now).
Disney Vacation Club may not be right for everyone, but for us, there was no other choice.
