Last week, there was an article in the Orlando Sentinel that caught my eye. It said that a permit application had been submitted by Disney for construction around the Grand Floridian Area. In the permit, Disney describes a six to seven story building that is T-shaped and connected to the current building on the property by a covered walkway. (Orlando Sentinel)
While the permit being submitted is fact, what exactly is being built there is still unknown. Disney had no comment on the project, and there is no construction timetable to be found. The rumor going around the forums is that it will be a new DVC property to be based at the Grand Floridian, but this cannot be confirmed. Keep your eyes here at the Disney Driven Life for news when it becomes available on this potential expansion and the other recent rumors, including the possible DVC on the old River Country land and the possible return of the Tropical Serenade to Magic Kingdom.

Living in Delaware her whole life, Jessica did not know much about Walt Disney World until she went at 13 years old. That initial trip, though, got her hooked on the magic. As the years went on, she did everything she could to learn more about Disney (including watching documentaries and reading books). She did not know many people that shared her passion until she discovered the wonders of the internet and the Disney community found on it. She has gotten involved with as many Disney projects as she can, including writing the weekly news articles for The Disney Driven Life and writing for her own blog, The True Disney Fan. I’m very neutral on the idea of a DVC location at the Grand Floridian but, oh, how I would love to see the Tropical Serenade to return to the Magic Kingdom! Goodbye New Management! Hello Timeless Attraction!
