In the last few days Disney has applied for permits for adding a large building to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.  The building would be wedged north of the wedding pavilion and south of the existing resort buildings.  To make room for the new property, the existing tennis courts would be removed.  This would allow room for a parking lot for the new space.

Disney has not released any specifics on the details of the project; however, it is being speculated that the addition will be intended as Disney Vacation Club (DVC) property.  It is also discussed that this DVC ownership would be considered more upscale than other DVC properties to help compete with the nearby Waldorf Astoria Orlando.

Currently, there are DVC properties in the following Walt Disney World Resorts: Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney’s Old Key West, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, the Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, the Tree House Villas at Saratoga Springs, Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, Disney’s Beach Club Villas, and Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary.  There are over 475,000 DVC members all over the world!  These resorts offer a grand array of resort amenities and room types.  Considering that Disney continues to build new DVC properties, it appears that Disney’s DVC properties are a success!  And more DVC properties means even more options for all those who already own DVC.

Do you own DVC?  If so, do you love it?  If you do not, why do you choose to not own?

  1. I do own DVC and after staying at the Grand Floridian this month I think I’m going to start saving to add on points at this possible new location.

What do you think?
