Congratulations to Barb S., NDM#172, the winner of March’s DDL Riddle. I didn’t realize how much Her Majesty’s Secret Service had infiltrated Disney! Sean Connery wasn’t the only James Bond actor to star in a Disney film. Timothy Dalton played Neville Sinclair in Disney’s The Rocketeer and was the voice of Mr. Pricklepants in Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3. And I wasn’t thinking of this when I wrote the Riddle, but Pierce Brosnan was the narrator in Disneynature’s Oceans. And Eric A. brought an obscure Disney-Bond connection to my attention: David Niven played James Bond in the 1960’s version of Casino Royale (a comedy version, not to be confused with Daniel Craig’s more recent portrayal). David Niven also starred in Disney’s Candleshoe and No Deposit, No Return.
Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton can be linked with only six degrees of Disney separation:
Sean Connery starred in Darby O’Gill and the Little People with Janet Munro.
Janet Munro starred in Swiss Family Robinson with Dorothy McGuire.
Dorothy McGuire starred in Summer Magic with Haley Mills (the daughter of her Swiss Family co-star, John Mills).
Haley Mills starred in That Darn Cat with Roddy McDowell.
Roddy McDowell also starred in A Bug’s Life with John Ratzenberger.
And I think everyone knows John Ratzenberger has starred in every Pixar film, including Toy Story 3, with Timothy Dalton.
