Princess Ami grew up going to Disney World when it was young and very small in comparison to today. It was a “World” that spanned only the Magic Kingdom resort area and the E-ticket was king! Disney World grew and Ami did with it, savoring every moment and change. Now that they are both knocking on 40, Magic Kingdom does its Disney magic with 3 more parks. It’s probably not a coincidence that Ami now experiences that new magic with 3 more princesses in tow. The girls are growing up addicted to the magic just as their mom did. Married to Prince Scott, Ami is gradually converting him over to the pixie dusted side! In addition to writing Disney infused blogs like www.disneyparkgoddess.blogspot.com and www.faithtrustandpixiedusted.blogspot.com, Ami is a singer in her Virginia church’s contemporary praise band and a self-proclaimed foodie.

As I was getting ready the other morning, I looked down on the sink and saw a small flyer with information on a local food and wine event – The ‘Fork and Cork.’  Cute name, you say?  Yeah, I think so too.  I’m certain my husband sat it there to remind me to purchase advance tickets and save ten bucks between the two of us, which I will do, but it succeeded in getting me to dreaming…

Naturally, I am looking forward to this event.  For one, it’s a date night.  Woo hoo!  Two, there’s wine!  Three, there will be food I don’t have to cook.  Bonus points if it’s good food!  Four, we always get to spend time with great friends at these affairs.  Despite all these wonderful details, which make up a completely perfect evening, the one thing that sends me tingling is that it reminds me of the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.  Ok, maybe not tingling.  Drooling could be a more apt description.  Also, daydreaming about dates and Epcot-  WAIT- dates IN Epcot!

You see, a Disney vacation can mean so many things.  When a friend tells me they are going to Disney World I anxiously await, wanting more details.  What are your plans? I mean really, telling me you are going to Disney is like telling me you are having pizza.  What kind of pizza?  Cheese?  Pepperoni?  Hawaiian?  Via Napoli?  With Disney you can have the preschool trip, the big kid tour, the park commando expedition, the spa spree… One of my favorite kinds of Disney visits is the “date experience.”  You know, the one where you leave the kids at Grandma’s and you and sweetie pie go off for a weekend of fine dining and strolling and…privacy. One of the best times to go on a “date experience” is during the Food and Wine Festival.  I am content not ever going to another park but Epcot.  Good food, good wine, good company.  Love it -love it- love it! I am sensing a whisper of “Get real, Ami.  We live a million miles away and can’t just go on a ‘date experience’ any ole time.”  Well, I can’t either. Which brings me back to the Fork and Cork.  Chances are, a town near you hosts an event similar to this.  You can use this website as a resource in finding one.  So, go and have fun with your sweetiekins.  Pretend you are in Epcot savoring the finest American wine and cheese.  Or, if you are lucky, maybe you will be simply enjoying springtime Hors D’oeuvres before the main course of the Food and Wine Festival in the fall!

Perhaps I will plan a “date experience” for next October if all the stars align and good fortune smiles on me.   After all, I will be saving ten bucks on those Fork and Cork tickets.  I must put that to good use!
