MAY DDL RIDDLE
“Ain’t it a glorious day? Right as a mornin’ in May. I feel like I could fly. . .”
Mary Poppins is one my family’s favorite Disney movies. What fun it would be to have a nanny as magical as Mary Poppins! A bottomless carpet bag, a talking umbrella and that beautiful singing voice! Every time I watch this movie, I find myself wishing for an uncle whose laughter would cause one to float to the ceiling, or a chalk painting to jump into for an afternoon adventure.
Aside from the story itself, another great aspect of this movie is the cast. Julie Andrews was practically perfect in every way as Mary Poppins. And what a thrill to watch Dick Van Dyke sing and dance! In my opinion, it’s the Banks children who make this movie. Karen Dotrice and Matthew Garber showed us that with the innocence and belief of children, all sorts of magic can happen.
Mary Poppins wasn’t the only Disney movie to star Karen and Matthew. For May’s DDL Riddle, name the other magical Disney movie that Karen Dotrice and Matthew Garber starred in.
The winner of May’s DDL Riddle will receive a Cinderella DVD with a haiku written by our own J.B. Conway, author of Mouse of Zen. Send your answers to ddlriddle@thedisneydrivenlife.com by May 31st. Best of luck, and have a supercalifragilistic month!
