Is anyone else out there excited to see the Disney’s Art of Animation Resort open in May 2012? We only have a year left until we will get a new Value Resort! What makes me most happy about this addition is that Disney has stepped up their game with the existing Value Resorts, renovating, painting and the like. I am only guessing, but would think that they are hoping people will continue to want to visit the older Value Resorts if they feel nice and new, just like the newly built Art of Animation!
And in addition to great Value Resort accommodations, I would imagine that the opening of the Art of Animation Resort will increase the supply of rooms available on property in Walt Disney World and (fingers crossed) reduce the room rate per night on the older Value Resorts. Lower prices at the Value Resorts means longer or more frequent vacations for my family, and hopefully yours, to Disney World!
The photos of the new resort make for a fabulous showing! The Art of Animation looks immersive, taking guests away to some of their favorite films such as The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Cars and Finding Nemo. Just as with other Value Resorts, larger icons will be used to engulf guests in the experience. In addition, interactive structions will be used unlike any others ever seen before.
This awesome resort will offer many standard rooms. However, for those of you who are looking for a way to bring your larger family to Disney World, the Art of Animation’s Family Suites may be just what you need. These suites will sleep up to six guests, providing loads of extra space as well as a kitchenette.

May I ask where you got the date of May 2012 from? All the sources I’ve been able to find online indicate only “summer 2012”.
