Disney Movie Nights – they are just traditional. They usually involve pj’s, favorite snacks, blankets & stuffed friends. But, in changing times, there is a new concept of movie night…themed movie nights. I love this concept for so many reasons. It is more than just watching a movie. You can include themed activities, food, & decorations. Our whole family becomes involved. From planning, to decorating, to clean-up, it is a true example of teamwork & a great bonding experience.
Disney has just recently released The Jungle Book Diamond Edition. In honor of this release, we chose this movie for our 1st Family Movie Adventure Night Challenge. Decorations
Decorations for a successful movie night do not need to be excessive or even store bought. There may be items around your home that would help set the mood without causing stress or extra work. This would be a great job to pass along to your NDK(s) so they feel like they are part of the preparations, too! Some ideas for this movie could be:
- cut out jungle leaves from construction paper
- safari animals from the playroom
- animal or tropical print blankets
- tropical jungle table settings
- stuffed jungle animals

Be sure to check out the official The Jungle Book Diamond Edition site. There are lots of activities, recipes & games as well. The “Meet the Characters” activity sheet is great to read over with your family as it provides short profiles of the characters in the movie.

There are so many yummy food choices to match a Jungle Book theme! Our menu was simple and planned by our NDKs. But there are so many great choices – from over the top to simplicity. Have fun with it – It’s your family night!
