I work in the mental health field and one area I assist my clients in is finding balance. Balance is a sense of all roles in their life are equally addressed and needs fulfilled in a healthy manner. For me, I am a Clinical Case Manager, Cast Member at the Disney Store, and then there is the personal life. Being the Neurotic Disney Person I am, NDI #132 to be exact, I have a Disney Side that needs balance as well.
My Disney life consists of being the Blogger/Owner of Diz Thru Brown Eyes. My blog focuses on Disney seen through my brown eyes and my love of Disney. I actually got my start in the blogging world at the Disney Driven Life. I will admit that is a job to keep the blog running. However, I do not view it as a job. I view it as sharing my love of Disney with others, thus making it a wonderful experience sharing information. My love of coffee help fuel my most popular feature which is Mean Muggin’ Monday. I feature a mug that is sent in by a reader, one of my own or one that I may see in a store that stands out to me.
Most of us can agreed that being active and healthy can assist with balance. I may not eat healthy all of the time unless a Mickey Ice Cream Bar can be considered a part of the dairy family. So, I participate in runDisney Events. I ran/walked my first Walt Disney World Half Marathon in 2008 with my sister. Since then, my participation in events have increased. This year I earned the Coast to Coast Medal. How do you earn a Coast-to-Coast medal? Per runDisney.com, “If you complete a runDisney half marathon or marathon at the Walt Disney World® Resort and a half marathon at the Disneyland® Resort in the same calendar year, then you will receive a Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal commemorating your achievement” This year I completed two events at Walt Disney World (Walt Disney World Half Marathon and Glass Slipper Challenge) and one event at Disneyland, which was my first runDisney event here (Disneyland Half Marathon). My next runDisney event will be the 2015 Walt Disney World Half Marathon in January. There is nothing like runDisney race bling.
Another Disney area that needs balance is the Disney collector in me. I collect Disney pins and Vinylmation. I am not sure if they can be considered collections but I also love to buy Disney Alex and Ani bangles, Harveys Seatbelt bags, and Disney Dooney & Bourke bags. What has a major control over this area is the checking account. I love having little Disney items to remind me of my happy place, like using a Disney pen, notebook or having my coffee in a Disney mug.
Maintaining balance is important to assist in fulfilling our emotional and physical well being needs. My Disney life helps me with that balance due to it bringing me joy to blog about Disney, share information about Disney, and work for a company that helps spread the magic.
A Disney blooded, crafty, fun-lovin’ wife/mom/organizer/planner, etc who is obsessed with all things Disney 🙂 Maria grew up with the Magic Kingdom and has loved watching WDW evolve into what it is today. A firm believer in the Power of Pixie Dust, she is the owner of The Disney Driven Life – A Community for Neurotic Disney People & a d.i.y. crafty blog, Carousel of Projects – create~inspire~share.
