I have visited the Disney Parks, (Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts) over twenty-five times, visited Aulani, and sailed nine times with Disney Cruise Line on all four ships in the fleet. Having a special needs family member places another dimension of planning for and visiting the Disney Parks and sailing with Disney, and I have to say that it is these vacations that have allowed us to see the greatest developmental improvements in our now teen aged son.

The absolute most enjoyable and easiest way to celebrate Christmas is with Disney Cruise Line. Why not make it a celebration with your extended family for the most entertaining Christmas ever! Disney Cruise Line is the best at entertainment and will delight everyone, regardless of age with these special Very MerryTime Cruises as part of Holidays on the High Seas. The cruises are offered from November through Christmas on all four ships in the fleet.

Guests are treated to a full day at Disney Cruise Line’s private Bahamian island, Castaway Cay and offered many activities including a beach BBQ. The ship is docked at port, enabling Guests the convenience of easy access to the ship all day long. An open-air. reindeer decorated tram transports them to various beaches throughout the island. Not to mention all the incredible Christmas theming throughout the island, and keep an eye out for Mr. and Mrs. Snowman, as well as the Disney characters.

Sailing during Christmas, Guests will be treated to fun activities, rich decor and holiday-themed entertainment. If you think you’ll miss seeing the life-size Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, fear not, because Disney Cruise Line has their own life-size Gingerbread House made with edible ingredients and it looks and smells just as good as the one at the Walt Disney World Resort!

A special event takes place to light the Christmas Tree called the Tree Lighting Ceremony and Guests will have fun listening to sea stories as well as stories from around the world. Disney characters are frequently available for meet and greets (check the Personal Navigator or dial 7-PALS from your stateroom phone for information). Many activities include holiday crafts and making greeting cards while Santa Claus and his Elves await Guests for a special meet and greet, photo opportunity. The daily Personal Navigator which is the guide for events, entertainment, activities and character meet and greets, is delivered to every stateroom. This is where to check for those special Christmas happenings.

Teens and tweens will have their own special fun with their private holiday parties, dances and celebrations all with their new sea friends.

If you sail on December 24 and December 25, you’ll have the added bonus of interdenominational religious services, holiday caroling, as well as a special Christmas morning and cookies on Christmas Eve. Don’t forget to look for those special towelgamis (towel animals) in your stateroom, as there will be many surprises there too.
