disney channelDevelopment is underway on a Disney Channel Original Movie “Throw Like Mo” – a biographical movie that will tell the inspiring story of Mo’ne Davis, the 13-year-old sports prodigy who made history in August 2014 as the first female to pitch a shutout in the Little League World Series. “Throw Like Mo” will be executive-produced by the Emmy Award-nominated producer Debra Martin Chase (“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” Disney Channel’s “The Cheetah Girls” movies and “Lemonade Mouth”). The writers are Sheldon Candis (writer and director of “LUV,” “A Slave in the White House” and director of Under Armour’s Misty Copeland campaign “I Will What I Want”) and Justin Wilson (“LUV,” “A Slave in the White House”). espnW, which has extensively covered the achievements of Mo’ne Davis, will also consult on the movie.

Naketha Mattocks, Vice President, Original Movies, Disney Channels, said, “Mo’ne is not only a top-notch athlete in three different sports – baseball, basketball and soccer – but she is an exemplary student and someone who will remind our audiences that they can do anything with hard work, dedication and belief in themselves.” Mattocks added, “We know her story will inspire audiences regardless of their age, culture or gender, and I am thrilled to have Debra, Sheldon and Justin leading the charge to bring this movie to life.”

Mo’ne Davis said, “There are so many great things happening to me right now, and it’s a very exciting time in my life. A year ago, I never would have thought that Disney Channel would make a movie about me. I can’t wait to get started, and I hope it will encourage other viewers to believe that dreams really do come true.”
