Eating while at Walt Disney World is one of the most enjoyable things to do while vacationing there. Even if you, like me, have food allergies. I have often in the past shared recipes and stories about table service restaurants that offer a wide range of allergy friendly meals. But what about the quick service stops? Do you wonder if they cater to the needs as well?

The answer is absolutely. Though depending on what your allergy is, may mean it could take a little more research on the place, or asking to speak to the manager before you place your order. The good news, most are more than willing to accommodate and several are beginning to offer the specialty desserts that are allergy friendly, which is a win for those of us who crave sweets.

So, what then are my go-to quick service spots that are not only wonderful, but allergy friendly? Here is a list of can’t miss meals for allergies:

Flame Tree Barbeque (Animal Kingdom): Super friendly and always willing to accommodate us. The fruit I have received is some of the best on property.

Disney’s Allergy Cart/Kiosk (Animal Kingdom): Offers a wide range of Enjoy Life products, fruit and allergy friendly menus. It is a great place to stop for snack options and ask questions you may have. The cast members are always willing to make sure you don’t have to worry. The last time I went, this was the only park that had one, though I have heard it has been, or will soon be, expanded to all the parks.

Sunshine Seasons (Epcot): I love the variety of food here. The fact they often have the chefs and cast members right on spot makes it easy to ask questions and watch to make sure they aren’t contaminating any products that may be harmful to the family.

Cosmic Rays Starlight Café (Magic Kingdom): This one is pretty easy for me as I love chicken. Still, my husband and I have never had an issue getting them to switch out some of the sides that I cannot have.

Tips for eating around the world with food allergies:

  • Let them know: If they don’t get it right make sure they know. None of us like to be a pest, but the few times they have gotten it wrong, when we take it back they are more than willing to fix it for us without question.
  • Kid Options may be the way to go: Disney is rolling out more and more better-for-you options, including in the kid option. Due to my allergies, I have been able to request a kid sandwich without an issue. It may not be for everyone, but sometimes you can’t go wrong with a turkey sandwich.
  • Grab an allergy friendly meal guide at the allergy cart/kiosk: This handy guide allows you to browse over the allergy friendly menus of the parks (Animal Kingdom) before you get up to the quick service meals. Saves time and hassle.
  • Ask for seconds: On a recent trip I discovered the Enjoy Life candy bars from the Garden Grill restaurant at EPCOT, it tasted exactly like a Nestle Crunch bar. It was wonderful. I loved it so much; the lady asked if I wanted to take some home with me. Yes, you can…and I recommend it if you are able to.

So yes, you can enjoy eating at the quick service stops around the world just as much as those that do not have to worry about food allergies. More information on dietary issues at Walt Disney World can be found here.
