Cars Star Wars Diecast - 1st release - FULLI grew up during the original release of Star Wars, but never got caught up in it.  Can you believe it? Many of my friends were huge fans, so I knew of the characters by name, some of the story, but I was pretty much clueless. Then in 2013, during Star Wars Weekend, Disney/Pixar Cars released diecast inspired by Star Wars.  This. Was. Cars. Whether Star Wars was a familiar film property or not, these were a must have for my collection. That first year, they released six diecast:

  • Luke Skywalker (Lightning McQueen)
  • Princess Leia (Sally Carrera)
  • Darth Vader (Mater)
  • C-3PO & R2-D2 (Luigi and Guido)
  • Yoda (Fillmore)
  • Stormtrooper (Tractor)

Cars Star Wars Diecast - 1st release

Not knowing their availability, as we weren’t heading down until fall, I had a friend pick them up for me during one of the Star Wars Weekends that year. There was a catch – the only way for me to receive them was to watch the original films (IV, V and VI). We decided during our annual summer get together, we would watch the films and I would get my diecast, her deciding which two characters I would receive after watching each movie.  Of course knowing Mater is my favorite character, he was the last one I received ☺

Cars Star Wars Diecast - 1st releaseI will admit, enjoyed the movies very much, though I still haven’t seen I, II and III.

2014 followed with more releases:

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi (Doc Hudson)
  • Han Solo (Ramone)
  • Chewbacca (Red)
  • Boba Fett (Chick Hicks)
  • Two Jawas (Pitties)

Cars Star Wars Diecast - 2nd release

2015 according to on-line reports and the recent Star Wars Convention in Anaheim, CA, this year is the last in the series.  Looking forward to adding the following from this year:

  • Lando Calrissian (The King – Strip Weathers)
  • Emperor Palpatine with Cone Droid (Sarge)
  • Ewoks Wicket and Logray (Pitties)
  • Jedi Luke Skywalker (Lightning McQueen)
  • Death Star Battle Jedi Luke Skywalker (Lightning McQueen)
  • Han Solo in Carbonite (Ramone)
  • Royal Guard (Tractor)
  • Plus an unannounced release

You can be sure I’ll be adding these to my collection and share photos once purchased, home and opened.   To truly appreciate the detail of the diecast, you MUST open!

Here’s to Star Wars Weekends … May The Force Be With You!!
