I have visited the Disney Parks, (Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts) over twenty-five times, visited Aulani, and sailed nine times with Disney Cruise Line on all four ships in the fleet. Having a special needs family member places another dimension of planning for and visiting the Disney Parks and sailing with Disney, and I have to say that it is these vacations that have allowed us to see the greatest developmental improvements in our now teen aged son.


Disney Dream

Star-Wars-Millennium-Falcon dclYouth Clubs- the Disney Dream will offer guests new experiences after the vessel is upgraded this fall. The youth clubs will see two spectacular, interactive areas themed after Star Wars and Disney Infinity.

Vanellopes-Sweets-Treats dclSweet Shop– a new sweet shop on the Disney Dream called, “Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats” will offer hand-made gelato, ice-cream, novelty candy and waffle cones. It will be located beside Cabanas and will have two entrances.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique– the popularity of magical transformations at Walt Disney World Resort and on Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Fantasy will be extended to the Disney Dream.

Adult Areas on Deck 13- a refreshing water feature, “Satellite Falls” currently on the Disney Fantasy, will be available to guests on the Disney Dream.

These enhancements will be available on the Disney Dream by October 26, 2015. The Disney Dream will continue to sail 3 and 4 night Bahamian cruises from Port Canaveral.

Stage Shows and Special Sailings

“Tangled: The Musical” Coming to Disney Cruise LineTangled: The Musical– the Disney Magic, the first ship in the fleet, will offer the characters and music from the Disney animated film, “Tangled”. This incredible tale will be adapted to stage with a spellbinding production and music by award winning Alan Menken. “Tangled:The Musical” will appear during the November 11 sailing.

Land of “Frozen” Coming to Disney Cruise Line in Summer 2015The Land of “Frozen”

During the summer of 2015, the animated hit, “Frozen” will be featured on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder sailings to Europe and Alaska. Many celebrations will take place with the friends from the Kingdom of Arendelle, with the highlight being the morning of the magical freeze that will overtake the Atrium Lobby. That same day will feature a family friendly deck party. Anna, Elsa and Olaf will join their Disney friends in the production ” Disney Dream, An Enchanted Classic” in the Walt Disney Theatre onboard.

Star Wars Day at SeaStar Wars Day at Sea

Guests sailing the Disney Fantasy on select Western Caribbean sailings from January to April, 2016, will experience the exciting “Star Wars Day at Sea”. The legendary and iconic characters from the Star Wars saga will sail eight special sailings. This spectacular day long event on one of the days will include celebrations, events, activities, character greets, as well as a special Star Wars themed deck party and fireworks extravaganza.

Guests will have the opportunity to watch the first six Star Wars Films, episode of the new Disney XD animated series and Star Wars Rebels. Best of all, on each of these sailings, celebrities and special contributors from the Star Wars saga will sail, meet fans and sign autographs.

The Inaugural Castaway Cay Challenge 5K Race

The brand new event, hosted by runDisney and Disney Cruise Line last winter was a huge success with over 700 participants at both Walt Disney World Resort followed by a run over at Disney’s Castaway Cay, a private Bahamina island exclusive to Disney Cruise Line Guests.

Summertime Freeze Frozen Drink Stand Opens At Disney’s Castaway Cay

The world of “Frozen” has arrived at Disney’s Castaway Cay. The new Frozen inspired drink stand at Disney’s Castaway Cay is now open for business.

Disney Junior Sails With Disney Cruise Line

Disney Junior stars, Sofia, Doc Mc Stuffins and Jake, are sailing with Disney Cruise Line. Guest will experience an early morning dance party and many other exciting activities and events throughout the cruise and in the youth clubs.

Disney Cruise Line’s New Ports of Call

British Isles and Europe– Disney Cruise Line recently announced that in 2016, the Disney Magic is sailing the British Isles itinerary with stops in Scotland, England, Ireland and France. Disney Cruise Line will also continue with itineraries to Norway and Iceland. As well, the Disney Magic will sail from Spain, to France and Italy.

Port Canaveral To Eastern Caribbean Including Tortola– Disney Cruise Line will also be sailing to the Eastern Caribbean, including Tortola and Disney’s Castaway Cay. Ships sailing this itinerary are the Disney Fantasy and Disney Magic.

San Juan to Southern Caribbean Including Martinique– the Disney Wonder will be sailing to San Juan, Puerto Rico and Martinique, which is a new itinerary for Disney Cruise Line.

Port Canaveral and Miami to Bahamas and the Caribbean- Disney Cruise Line will also sail to the Bahamas and the Caribbean from Port Canaveral and Miami.


The Disney Wonder during the summer of 2015, will be sailing to Alaska along with West Coast sailing and in September 2015, it will sail to the island of Hawai’i. What a perfect opportunity for Guests to extend their land stay at Oahu by staying at Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa.

DCL New YorkGalveston, New York City and the Canadian Maritime Provinces– new itineraries from Galveston and New York City sailing to the Canadian Maritime Provinces were announced recently for sailings in 2016.
