Meet Kayla. I recently found her Facebook page and decided to try some of her Disney inspired headbands and 6 headbands later I must share this find with you all.
Jill: When did you start Magic Headbands?
Kayla: Magic Headbands really started in October 2014 when I made them for my sister-in-law, my daughter, my niece and me for our trip to Disney World. I sold a few here and there last Christmas. Then last spring started selling as Magic Headbands on FB.
Jill: I know you sell on FB is there anywhere else we can find you?
Kayla: For now I only sell on FB. I like being able to talk to customers about sizing and I enjoy the social aspect of selling on FB. I also am trying to keep my prices low which makes selling on FB and using PayPal a great combination.
Jill: Do you make mostly Disney themed headbands?
Kayla: I do make mostly Disney headbands, but I also have loads of others from sports teams from Chevron to Dr. Who.
Jill: What has been your favorite headband?
Kayla: Today’s favorite is my newest Haunted Mansion style. Not only is it HM, but the colors are very vibrant and it is just a pretty headband. My Disney Snacks and Indiana headbands are favorites too.
Jill: What gave you the idea to add custom sizing for the headbands? (my favorite part)
Kayla: Shortly after my first set of headbands to go to Disney, my best friend came over for one of our “sewing days”. She has a really small head and my size would never have worked for her (nor did any other headband ever). So it seemed obvious to offer custom sizing. The headbands are pretty forgiving, but being able to measure helps get a perfect fit!! This also means I do not keep ready-made headbands on hand. Everything made is custom. It has worked great so far!!
Jill: Do you accept custom or team orders?
Kayla: So far, yes!! This has been one of the most fun things. Before I started, I would spend hours searching etsy for my favorite Disney character (Dug) or my favorite sports team (Indiana!!) on t-shirts or headbands and there was never anything. I can’t always get everything requested, but it is fun when I can.
Jill: How did you come up with the design for the headband?
Kayla: I have run in headbands similar for years. These headbands are great for keeping your hair and sweat out of your eyes when exercising. I would always pick up a few at the race expos from different brands. When I started making my own, I took the things I liked from some of the brands like thicker elastic and mashed them with things I liked with other brands (different sizes) then added Disney designs!! I ran my favorite half marathon in May wearing one of my designs and it stayed put the whole race!
Jill: Are you thinking of adding other things besides headbands?
Kayla: I get lots of ideas from customers. One customer asked if I could make her daughter a matching headband for her American girl doll. Brilliant idea!! The American Girl headbands are so cute!
Jill: What is your favorite park?
Kayla: My favorite park is California Adventure at Disneyland. But since I don’t get to California very often, I would say all of them, how can you pick just one favorite?!?!?! My favorite time of the day at the park though is definitely rope drop.
Jill: Who is your favorite character?
Kayla: I have two favorite Characters-1. Dug because we have a golden doodle named after him and my kids just adore him 2. Minnie because she has fantastic shoes!! I am sure she would rock a Magic Headband!!
Jill: What is your favorite attraction?
Kayla: Tower of Terror and the Epcot World Showcase

My name Jill Laperle. My first trip to Disney was way back in 1978. I still remember the first glimpse of the Magic Kingdom with my parents. I even still have some of those unused original tickets buried in a box.
I met and married my Prince Charming (Jeff) and we have 2 Princes (Riley and Aidan). Mickey and Minnie were kind enough to pop in at our wedding (thanks to our parents) and we had an amazing Disney honeymoon. Both of the boys had their first haircuts at the Main Street Barber Shop when they were a year old. In 2009 we became proud DVC owners at Baylake Tower. I have graduated from the College of Disney Knowledge and keep up with that training just to help people plan trips. I made it to the second round for Moms Panel after years of applying. I will keep trying knowing one of these years it will be my turn. I was a beta tester for Disney InsidEARS. I may have a small obsession with Disney Dooney and Harvey Seatbelt bags. I also love collecting Disney iPhone cases, Chamilia beads and other jewelry finds. I am always showing a Disney Side in a small way. Anything else you would like to know just ask.
