The Force Awakens. Those three words send chills rippling through me. I watched the first trailer at least a dozen times when it was first released and then dozens more after that.
The Star Wars movies have been a part of my life, my entire life. They still are! We have so many Star Wars fan items in our home it is ridiculous – and not just because the new movie is about to break – because we truly are, and have always been, Star Wars fans. Is there such a thing as a new Star Wars fan? I guess there are people who haven’t seen the movies…I mean, a friend of ours just borrowed all six of our movies because he felt bad that his 9 year old son hadn’t really seen them and he himself had never really watched them all. WHAT?!
Ok, some of the things I have bought are inspired by the new excitement of the new movie. For example – I quit putting creamer in my coffee five years ago, but, it’s Chewie! I had to buy it and use it and buy another one…and it tastes so good in my Star Wars tumbler…
We have Star Wars bedding and Star Wars plush.
We have had a Star Wars Lego Advent Calendar for as many Christmas’ as they have been making them.
We have several Star Wars ornaments on the tree.
You get the idea.
There are 12 of us going to The Force Awakens together. Three generations of Star Wars Fans. My six year old is as excited to go as my mother is and most likely he’ll be wearing this shirt (and trying to sneak in his lightsaber):
Star Wars feels like home. I remember watching IV, V, and VI with my sisters when we were little and wishing we could have an Ewok for a pet. I can’t imagine my life without those movies, characters, and epic battles.
My friend better bring those movies back real soon…
How has your life been impacted by Star Wars?
