The cast of “The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic!” performed at White House Thursday to honor the winners of this year’s Healthy Lunchtime Challenge during a luncheon hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama.
The Disney entertainers, who usually perform at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, were excited to act and dance in the East Room of the White House, which was decorated with arrays of fresh vegetables and sunflowers. The event, known as the Kids’ “State Dinner,” celebrated 56 young winners – one each U.S. state, territory and District of Columbia – for their healthy, delicious recipes. The fifth annual luncheon is part of Mrs. Obama’s Let’s Move program to help young people and their families embrace healthy lifestyles.
After the guests enjoyed some of the winning dishes on the menu, Mrs. Obama introduced the Disney entertainers and clapped along with show. At the close of the ceremonies, she challenged the youngsters to make a difference. “As small as you think you are, you can change lives. … People change because of kids. They change how they eat; they change the way they think; they change the way they see one another.”
