Since the first time I saw a trailer for DreamWorks Pictures’ “The Light Between Oceans”, I couldn’t wait to see it. I am the first one in my group of friends (and family, for that matter) that will get excited over a movie like this. The romance, the love, the happiness, and even that little bit of sadness pulled me in. So when I got invited to a special screening, I quickly said yes.
This movie begins with the couple, Isabel and Tom, played by Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender, meeting and falling in love. They were so happy, it made me happy. Then their story goes many ways from there. They endure tragedies and are left to question their own morals.
For me, this was a very difficult, but gripping, thing to watch. The actors and he story line was very convincing – I could feel every emotion they felt from start to finish. At times it was so intense, I felt maybe this movie had too much emotion thrown all at once. However, The Light Between Oceans has the most beautiful imagery and scoring that really brings it all together. In the end, I was glad I went with my gut instinct to make this one of my must see movies.
I believe this movie is meant to make viewers really feel and learn something about love, forgiveness, and doing what is right. I really hope you take the time to see The Light Between Oceans and maybe even read the book, as I know I will.
