Treasures from the Disney Vault - June 2017

What do horses and Hayley Mills have in common? I’m so glad you asked. They both take front and center in the next installment of Treasures from the Disney Vault. Turner Classic Movies is again proud to present Treasures from the Disney Vault Friday, June 2 starting at 8pm.

If you’re a fan of horses, included in the schedule is Mickey’s Polo Team. An animated short starring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. Keep your eye out for appearances by the Big Bad Wolf, Laurel and Hardy, Harpo Marx, and Shirley Temple. Also check out Hacksaw, a movie starring Tab Hunter about a girl who captures a white stallion to compete in a contest.

If you’re a fan of Hayley Mills like I am, then you’re in luck. The night kicks off with back to back Hayley Mills films. In Summer Magic, Hayley plays a teenaged girl, who along with her family, moves from Boston to a house in the country due to financial problems. In Pollyanna, Hayley plays a young girl who moves in with her aunt in an embittered town but is still determined to see the best in life.

Growing up as a child, of course I watched Disney animated movies. But it wasn’t until my first visit to Walt Disney World as a young adult, that I fell in love with Disney. Since then the love as spread from just the parks and TV & movies to how I visit (current Passholder and DVC Member), to running (runDisney), and to Broadway (Lion King, Mary Poppins, Newsies, Aladdin, etc.)

But the biggest impact Disney has had on me is the people it has brought into my life. Friendships I treasure with all my heart. Some friends have become more like my Ohana (my family). For this I will forever be grateful.
