The Network Also Hosted Fan Activations with a Live Mermaid Exhibit, a 360 Video Booth and Exclusive Giveaways
Freeform Comic ConFreeform gave fans at New York Comic Con a real treat on Saturday, October 7, when the network stormed the Big Apple with popular series “Shadowhunters” and “Beyond,” and new original drama “Siren.” Freeform presented an unprecedented three hours of genre programming, complete with exclusive footage and Q&A sessions featuring cast and executive producers from each show. Fans also got the chance to experience the three dramas, along with the highly anticipated series “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger,” through Freeform’s activation zone at the Jacob K. Javits Center, which will be up and running through Sunday, October 8.

“Shadowhunters”
Returning hit series “Shadowhunters” gave fans an exclusive first look at the upcoming third season and teased what is in store for our favorite Shadowhunters and Downworlders. Following the sneak peek, cast members Katherine McNamara, Matthew Daddario, Isaiah Mustafa and Alisha Wainwright and executive producers Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer and Matt Hastings participated in a Q&A panel, moderated by TV Guide Magazine’s Jim Halterman.
Over at the Javits Center, The Jade Wolf restaurant, which is featured on the series as the New York werewolf pack’s headquarters, opened its to-go service and served fortune cookies to the public.
“Beyond”
Gearing up for a second season, the hit drama “Beyond” debuted exclusive, never-before-seen, action-packed footage, followed by a Q&A panel with cast members Burkely Duffield, Dilan Gwyn and Eden Brolin, and executive producers Adam Nussdorf, Tim Kring and David Eick. The panel was moderated by Damian Holbrook of TV Guide Magazine.
At the activation zone, Freeform redelivered an iconic scene in the woods from the first season, with a 360 video booth that placed fans in the location where Holden finds himself on a recurring basis, featuring his supernatural abilities. The exhibit was socially enabled and fans were able to immediately share their experience with a multimedia video.
“Siren”
The new original drama “Siren” gave fans an exclusive first look at the series, screening the first episode in its entirety. Afterwards, cast members Eline Powell, Alex Roe, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ian Verdun and executive producers Emily Whitesell and Eric Wald participated in a Q&A panel moderated by Refinery29’s Ariana Romero.
At the “Siren” exhibit across from the Javits, fans peeked into the Bristol Cove Marine Research Center tank and witnessed a live siren interact with visitors. The exhibit also featured mermaid educational information about their history, anatomy and abilities.
“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger.”
Freeform brought New Orleans to New York with a Big Easy style pop-up bodega to represent “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger.” Fans received a tarot card, which revealed their prize under a black light at the bodega.
The second season, two-hour premiere of “Beyond” airs THURSDAY, JANUARY 18, the third season of “Shadowhunters” premieres TUESDAY, APRIL 3, and the special two-hour series premiere of “Siren” airs THURSDAY, MARCH 29, only on Freeform.
