The Disney Dogs Pack raised $9,893 at Paws in the Park in support of Central Florida cats and dogs.
They have names like Dodger, Prince, Ruby, and Lilo. They are loveable, inspiring and always steal the show. But if you think this lineup is just a bunch of characters from a Disney movie, think again.
They are the proud pups of Disney Cast Members, dogs who wouldn’t be a part of the family if not for Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando.
On Saturday, Feb. 10, Dodger, Prince, Ruby, Lilo and dozens of other four-legged friends escorted their humans in the Disney Dogs Pack as they walked Lake Eola as part of Paws in the Park. The annual event raises funds and awareness for Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, a local organization that estimates it will bring over 10,000 homeless pets into their two locations over the next year.
“We rescued Ruby through the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando and it was one of the best decisions ever,” said Jeff Korte, general manager of Disney’s Pop Century Resort. “We continue to take her there for her veterinary needs because the animal care professionals are so great with her.”
Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando not only provides animal surrender and pet adoption services, but focuses on all aspects of animal life, including behavior, health and education. The alliance’s two locations are a favorite spot for Disney VoluntEARS, who collectively recorded over 1,500 hours at the facilities in 2017 alone. Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando has had a real impact in the lives of Disney Cast Members, many of whom have adopted cats and dogs from the organization.
“Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando truly values the contributions the Disney VoluntEARS and the Disney Dogs Pack make to our organization,” said Cathy Rogers, Director of Development at Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. “Whether it is volunteering at our shelters, adopting a pet or raising money for Paws in the Park, Disney Cast Members make a huge impact at Pet Alliance and throughout the community.”
In all, Disney Cast Members helped raise $9,893 as part of the Disney Dogs team at Paws in the Park. More than 140 Disney VoluntEARS registered to walk in support of Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, and at their side were plenty of wagging tails and cheerful barks.
“This will be our fourth time participating in and fundraising for Paws in the Park,” said Kelly Marth, a project assistant at Walt Disney World Resort and dog-mother to Dodger. “It is such a wonderful event, and the Pet Alliance does so much for the Central Florida community.”
For the past 24 years, Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members have supported Paws in the Park. As a company with nearly 73,000 Cast Members in Central Florida, Walt Disney World Resort is committed to investing in the community in ways that directly improve the lives of Central Florida children and families, including four-legged family members.
