I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and again: I love a good thriller!
James McTeigue’s newest release Breaking In is a home invasion thriller that will keep you wondering what will happen next. There is something creative around every corner. There are twists you wouldn’t expect, some suspenseful moments and even a bit of laughter. You’ll learn to never mess with a mother whose children are in danger!
Breaking In begins when a mother, Shaun (Gabrielle Union), and her two children, teenager Jasmine (Ajiona Alexus) and kid brother Glover (Seth Carr) on their way to her childhood home. Shaun quickly discovers that her estranged father had turned the home into a “fortress” with top security technology. Unfortunately for them, four trespassers have already penetrated the “fortress”. With her kids being held hostage inside the house, this mother will do everything in her power to save them and herself. The longer they’re inside the more desperate and creative she will get.
In my opinion, this movie would be very empowering to women and mothers. It shows what strength mothers have and the lengths they will go to ensure the safety of their children. I really enjoyed how Union’s character wouldn’t back down and proved the men wrong time and time again. I think Gabrielle Union held this movie together with her wonderful acting and portrayal of a strong, dedicated mother. I found myself cheering her on all throughout the movie.
The movie is rated PG-13 for “violence, menace, bloody images, sexual references, and brief strong language”. If you are planning to bring your young ones or teenagers, be cautious that this is a bit terrifying and has some inappropriate content. However, I would recommend seeing this movie as it was enjoyable to watch and very thrilling. It is definitely a fun “scary movie” go-to!
When I first heard of Breaking In, I immediately liked the concept and imagined what type of things this mother would do and I wasn’t disappointed. Gabrielle Union pulls out all the stops and I was impressed! I would highly recommend seeing this movie. I know you’ll be just as surprised as I was. After all, “Payback is a Mother!”
This Mother’s Day, Gabrielle Union stars as a woman who will stop at nothing to rescue her two children being held hostage in a house designed with impenetrable security. No trap, no trick and especially no man inside can match a mother with a mission when she is determined on Breaking In.
Producers Will Packer (No Good Deed, Obsessed) and Union (Almost Christmas, Being Mary Jane) reunite for this original thriller directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Sense8).
