Hi guys! Today I am back with another book review and this time it is Love Like Sky by Leslie C. Youngblood. Love Like Sky is about an 11 year old girl named G-Baby and her blended family. Her parents are divorced and both her parents are remarried. G-baby’s mom is married to Frank, who has a daughter, Tangie; her dad is remarried to Millicent.
G-Baby’s life is not easy at this time. She finds herself facing a lot of problems. G-Baby worked very hard to earn the approval of her new, older stepsister, Tangie. The problem with that is she forgot about her own little sister, Peaches, until she became very ill. G-Baby was very scared for her. But she stayed strong, even when she thought her sister may not come home from the hospital. G-Baby also had to help her BFF, Nikki, who was being bullied by another girl. Along with these problems, Will G-Baby stay strong? Will Peaches get better? Read Love Like Sky to find out!

There were funny parts to this story. One of my favorite parts was when G-Baby was visiting her dad and his new wife Millicent. She secretly refers to Millicent as “Millipede!” G-Baby also planned a “throwback party” for her family and friends. Everyone dressed up in 70’s clothes. The way G-Baby described the party made it sound so exciting and fun that I just wanted to jump into the book and party with them!
This book teaches valuable life lessons. You should never neglect your family and friends, no matter what happens. There are no guarantees in life. Another lesson to be learned is you should stay strong and have faith, even when you’re scared, no matter how scary the situation is. Love Like Sky is a book that teaches you about never-ending love. You find never-ending love from family and friends. Never-ending love is “love like sky. It never runs out.” Love Like Sky is a great book for middle school kids. I really felt like G-Baby could have been one of my friends. This is a book that should be read by all kids.
