“In the kingdom of Kaloon, nothing is quite as it seems…”
What’s up, everyone? Today I have an amazing book from Disney Publishing that I would love to share with you. The book is Twinchantment by Elise Allen. Remember her? She wrote the Gabby Duran series and Driven By Emotions from Disney Pixar’s Inside Out. I enjoy Elise Allen books, so naturally, I loved this book. Did you know that this book has been optioned to become a Disney Channel Original Movie? I can’t wait!
Twinchantment
- written by Elise Allen
- age range: 9-12 years old * available now
This book features twins, magic, talking birds, and loyal friends, what’s not to love? But there is still dark magic in this kingdom. The queen has been cursed, and it is up to her daughters to save her, and the kingdom.
Flissa and Sara, twin sisters, are princesses. Illegal princesses, that is. Their great-grandfather made a royal decree saying magic was not allowed in the kingdom, but he also said that people that had signs of possessing magical signs, were banished, into the horrible Twists. Unfortunately, one of the signs of magic is twins. Flissa and Sara have to pretend to be one person, sharing princess duties. Now that their mother is sick, they will have to break a few rules.
Sara is a talented artist. One of my favorite parts of the book involves a beautiful coin that Sara made from wood when she was little. The coin is important because Flissa has trouble making decisions. A long time ago, Sara found this old piece of wood. She had one of the castle servants carve it into the shape of a coin. Then she painted it gold, with her parents faces. On one side was the king, while the other side was the queen. From what the author described, Sara did such a good job that the faces almost looked real. So whenever Flissa has trouble deciding, she flips the coin. I loved the artwork on the book cover. It is very beautiful and intricate. It also helped me get a good idea of what the characters look like.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. The suggested age range is 9-12 years old. If you love books about magic, kingdoms, and of course, twins, then this is the book for you!
