Disney’s Blizzard Beach hosted nearly 200 attendees as part of the 10th annual “World’s Largest Swimming Lesson’’ on Thursday morning at Walt Disney World Resort.
Three-time Olympic gold medal swimmer Rowdy Gaines kicked off the lesson, where children of all ages learned basic swim strokes. Children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America were among those who participated.
Of the 83 sites in Florida, Disney’s Blizzard Beach was one of the largest. The global event was staged at locations in 28 different countries over the course of 24 hours. The purpose of “World’s Largest Swimming Lesson’’ is to educate families on the importance of learning to swim.
