Nominees for the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced by the Television Academy, with The Walt Disney Company receiving 145 nominations. The impressive total includes 47 nominations for Disney Television Studios; 36 for ABC (up from 26 last year); 33 for FX (up from 32 last year); 26 for Hulu (up from 20 last year); 19 for Disney+, in its first showing; nine for National Geographic; three for ESPN; and one for Disney Channel. (As some of the nominations overlap, these are grand totals for each entity.)

Disney+ and Lucasfilm Ltd.’s The Mandalorian is Disney’s most-nominated title for 2020 and is among the contenders for Outstanding Drama Series. Also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series is Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, which received 10 nominations in all—including Outstanding Supporting Actress for Samira Wiley and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Bradley Whitford—as did FX Networks/FXP’s Mrs. America, which as an FX on Hulu original earned nods for Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Lead Actress for Cate Blanchett and Outstanding Supporting Actress for Uzo Aduba, Margo Martindale and Tracey Ullman.

ABC’s Oscars® telecast received nine nominations; FX/FXP’s What We Do in the Shadows netted eight, including Outstanding Comedy Series; and Pose earned six nods, including Outstanding Lead Actor for Billy Porter. Five nominations each went to Little Fires Everywhere, The Politician and This Is Us; while black-ish, American Horror Story: 1984, Devs, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Live in Front of a Studio Audience, Normal People and the documentary The Cave from National Geographic each scored four nods. Additional series with multiple nods include ESPN’s documentary The Last Dance, Dancing with the Stars, The Little Mermaid Live!, Modern Family, Ramy, The Simpsons, The Great, Life Below Zero, Shark Tank and Tales From the Loop.
